| Be a Solar Champion!
In 2007, the City of Portland, Energy Trust of Oregon, Solar Oregon and Oregon Department of Energy came together to create Solar Now!-a statewide marketing and educational campaign. The goal of the campaign was to build awareness of solar energy solutions and make the process of going solar simpler for Oregonians. This year, Solar Now! is expanding its reach by inviting motivated communities from northern, eastern and central Oregon to become a part of our outreach efforts. We want to help passionate volunteers, organizational leaders, municipalities and solar champions like yourself establish local, solar outreach programs. With

the right resources, training and support, you can plant the seeds of energy independence in your community.

Goal Net Zero Interest Group Meeting - Portland
Want to
make your home more energy efficient? Adding insulation is great, but
it can reduce the drying potential of your walls. Make sure you aren't
setting the stage for moisture problems.
Join architect Kathy Bash to learn how to calculate the temperature
profile of various wall constructions and locate the plane where
condensation is possible. Discuss when and where vapor barriers make
sense.

Inverters: Mico PV systems and problem solver
By Cliff
Schrock Solar Oregon Board Member |

The advent
of the new generation micro-inverter has opened an exciting
era in small PV systems. It is now possible to consider installing
single panel grid-tie PV systems in apartments, condos, and small
homes. For the cost of as little as a single

| PV panel
(Nominally $500 for 200 watts) and a single Micro Inverter (Nominally
$200), a PV system can be added to a home.
As a problem solving tool, individual Micro Inverters mounted on each
PV panel allow issues such as shading shutting down a whole string of
PV modules, or complex roofs such as east and west facing arrays to be
easily accommodated. With a Micro Inverter system, each PV panel can
maximize production for a given sun and shade situation.

Needs You! By Solar
Ambassador Ron "Mac" McDowell
Just like their solar energy systems, Solar Ambassadors come in all
shapes and sizes. From Medford to Molalla and Bend to
Beaverton what these people all have in common is that they are
participating members of Solar Oregon who have a solar electric or hot
water system on their residence and they want others to follow.
As early adopters, these folks are often the best spokespersons for
solar energy and their goal is simple - to help others bring solar
power into their lives. The Solar Ambassador's role is to
connect with others and they are expected to ...
