| Solar Oregon launches new workshop series in Portland
An increasing number of people in Oregon want to make their homes more energy efficient, perhaps install solar, but have difficulty understanding the dynamics of the many technologies available to them and deciding which measures are most appropriate for their needs.
Grown out of Solar Oregon's annual Goal Net Zero Home tours, we have recently begun offering regular evening lectures on energy use, energy saving technology and techniques. The goal is for attendees to become familiar with their energy use

at home,
what building performances can be achieved and learn what measures can
be taken now and for future projects.

| Oregon Rural Action, volunteers, and Solar Oregon staff hosted the first Eastern Oregon Solar Fair in early June. Over 80 people attended workshops and home tours. A new incentive pilot program was launched on July 1, 2010 in which owners of new solar electric systems will receive an above market rate for the electricity they produce. The program is limited in size and opens up twice every year for the next four years. The first round was fully subscribed within minutes, with the next round to open October 1, 2010. Every
year the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) holds its National
Conference at varying locations across the country. This year the
conference returned to Phoenix, Arizona, where 50 years ago the first
national solar energy conference was held. Solar Oregon, the statewide
chapter of ASES, had a chance to attend this important event.
