Portland Based NGO Implements Solar Power in the Developing World
How far do you travel for your
morning glass of water? Nicaragua villagers had to walk over a
mile to bring potable water to their family, before a solar water pump
was installed. Portland-based Green Empowerment and their Nicaraguan
partner, AsoFenix, are leaders in using solar energy to pump water to
isolated villages. They will complete a fourth solar water pump
in Nicaragua in December 2008. A fifth will be installed
in 2009 in the village of El Jocote, with the help of a Portland religious
group.
