PLANT OF THE MONTH
Epilobium californicum California Fuchsia

California Fuchsia is a must for summer color in the garden. When the summer heats up you can rely on this mounding perennial to brighten your yard with brilliant red blooms. California Fuchsia has lance-shaped gray-green leaves and tubular scarlet flowers. It is a brilliant addition to a hummingbird garden or as a border along a walkway due to its profuse and colorful hot season blooms. This plant has no equal for providing summer color and a nectar source during the hottest months. California Fuchsia stays about 1 foot high and can spread up to 4 feet in ideal conditions. In very cold climates this fuchsia may die back in winter but will come back reliably the next spring. It is best pruned back hard in late fall.
Every purchase of our "Plant of the Month" at our retail nursery partners will generate a $0.50 donation to PLANT WITH PURPOSE to help poor villages in third world economies restore farms, plant trees and create local jobs. |
