Back-to-School
New School Year - Fresh Start
A fresh start. When the school bell rings for the 2011-2012 school year, we want to give children a positive experience and set them up for academic success. Often, the children and families we serve who are experiencing homelessness cannot afford to buy the necessary school supplies to complete homework assignments and participate fully in class. Rainbow Days' Back-to-School Celebration serves to incite enthusiasm for education, provide children with new school supplies and uniforms and offer a meaningful family experience outside of the shelter to strengthen the family bond.
Rainbow Days' Back-to-School Celebration has been helping children from local shelters to enter their upcoming school year both excited and prepared for 20 years. Through a partnership with the Captain Hope's Kids, Dallas Market Center and dozens of corporations, community-based organizations and individuals, over 400 school-aged children residing in Dallas homeless shelters will receive a brand new backpack filled with school supplies and 2 new school uniforms for the new school year. A carnival-like atmosphere is nothing but fun with games, crafts, music and refreshments with their families.
Help us make this year's 20th Annual Back-to-School Celebration a success!

Camp Bravo! Come see the stars shine
Snow in July? A special visitor from the North Pole? It is indeed Christmas in July for over 120 children residing in Dallas-area homeless shelters who have been participating in Rainbow Days' Camp Bravo! II July 26 - 30, 2011. This year's production, "A Gleeful Christmas in July" is a special performing arts camp for children who are homeless, produced by Rainbow Days and hosted at Northwest Bible Church in Dallas. Camp Bravo! II culminates with a special production on Saturday, July 30, 2011at 11:30am at Northwest Bible Church in the Children's Building, located at 8505 Douglas Ave. Dallas, Texas 75225. The performance is a great family event that is free to the public . Visitors are welcome to attend. Please RSVP to Lynn Carson to secure a seat.
Rainbow Days' provides a unique opportunity for children residing in nearly two dozen homeless and domestic violence shelters to spend time away from the shelter and focus on discovering new talents, practicing team work, creating props, learning songs, and dance routines and having the experience of performing on stage! Camp also includes Rainbow Days' award-winning Curriculum Based Support Group® which teaches children important life skills such as how to resist negative peer pressure, make healthy choices, and say no to alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
"Exposing children to the arts and giving them a week filled with creative learning opportunities with caring adults and instructors from our community makes a significant positive impact in children's lives," shared said Cathey Brown, Founder and CEO of Rainbow Days. "It only takes one moment, one mentor, one memorable experience to expand a child's world and introduce them to new possibilities."
