Fall Harvest and Back-to-School Celebration

Fall Harvest Clothing Drive -
Apple Sponsors Needed!

Of the 338 children residing in a shelter who need a new school uniform or outfit to head back-to-school, we have 183 adopted!  This is great news that we have over half adopted, but WE NEED YOUR HELP to "adopt" the other 155 children!  It is amazing to see the smiles on these children's faces as they open their new shopping bag that contains a brand new outfit for them to head back to school.  This is a great and fun project for a family, a work team or a group from your church or neighborhood.  As a sponsor, you get a paper "apple" with a child's name, clothing size and age to shop for and then you drop off your new outfit along with your apple to Rainbow Days by Monday, August. 20th.  To sign up to be a Fall Harvest Clothing "apple" sponsor, please email Lynette Smith today or click here for more info.

Back-to-School Supply Drive -
Supplies Needed!

Thanks to generous supporters in the community like you, Rainbow Days has secured over 350 backpacks for the children we serve!  In addition to dozens of individual donors, Rainbow Days is grateful to our corporate supporters and employees at the following companies for their generosity this year:  Accenture, AT&T Telecom Pioneers - Ginger Oaks Club, Caremark, Cheers for Charity, CitiFinancial Mortgage, Dallas Market Center, FedEx Corp., FedEx Kinko's, Jones Day, Match.com, Mom's Best Friend, National Charity League, Oak Lawn United Methodist Church and the Office Depot National Backpack Program.  Volunteers are getting ready to help us sort, stuff and organize the backpacks with supplies.  We still need about 100 MORE BACKPACKS and WE ARE  STILL IN NEED OF LOTS OF SCHOOL SUPPLIES or cash donations to help us underwrite the cost of the supplies we must purchase. Inkind donation deadline is next Monday, August 13th!  To donate, please email Lynette Smith or call her at 214-887-0726.  Or click here  for the list of supplies needed.

Camp Broadway Gets a Standing Ovation
Camp Broadway 2007 - "The 5 Hip Hop Boroughs" a Success

With a record-setting 114 children from 10 area shelters, there was much fun to be had during this summer's Camp Broadway performing arts camp at Hillcrest Church.  Children enjoyed a week of fun classes on prop design, music, dance, stage presence and team building activities as they also learned Rainbow Days Five Major Messages - I Am, I Can, I Have, I Will and I Believe throughout the camp.  The children delivered their performance "The 5 Hip Hop Boroughs" to a live audience of 80+ guests at the Performing Arts Center at Hillcrest Church on Saturday, July 28th.  Special thanks to all of our supporters who made this year's camp possible, including: Hillcrest Church, Baron & Blue Foundation, The Carl B. & Florence E. King Foundation, Central Market, Harold Simmons Foundation, Nancy Ann Hunt, Pizza Hut, Jessica Thorne, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, and the US Dept. of Housing & Urban Development.
