Say a Big Howdy to Jill Frasier

HFHC is pleased to announce that, after an exhaustive search,  we have hired a new Director of Operations, Jill Frasier!  Please join us in welcoming her.  Here's a note from Jill.  Jill Fraiser

I am looking forward to workign with the HFHC staff and all of you!  I was introduced to Habitat on a volunteer trip to Nogales, Mexico in 1993 with a group from Grand Junction and then was a summer VISTA for the Greeley Area HFH. Most recently, I was the Accounting Manager for HFH Metro Denver and continue to enjoy traveling with GV trips. My undergraduate degree is in Human Services where I focused on housing issues.  I also have a Masters of Business Administration from CU Denver. I hope to bring an affiliate perspective to HFHC and look forward to working on new, creative ways to partner with the Colorado communities and HFH affiliates to reach the second 1,000 homes goal and beyond.

There's No Place Like Home, 1000 Homes Campaign Update

Loveland Habitat for Humanity has tithed $15,193.75 to support the 1000 Homes Campaign in Paraguay!  They are also workign on having one of thier upcoming houses a "teachers build" and include the whole school district. Below is a testimonial from a partner family in Paraguay.

Celia tells us: "The house we have today was the dream of my grandmother" Her grandma is 84 years old now. Celia tells her story: "I worked as a maid with my mother, Eugenia, and we barely earned enough to pay for daily living expenses.  I worked on the weekend and saved the money to finish high school, attend college and become a teacher.
After I graduated, I worked as a volunteer with the local municipality and after some time, I was accepted as an employee with a salary of $156.25, my mother continued working a as a maid for around $100.00.  At that time, we had lost all hope of a safe house, especially because I was under paid and we could not afford a loan."

Eventually, Celia was able to find employment as an elementary school teacher.  As Habitat Paraguy is building homes for teachers she was able to secure a home through this program.  Celia says: "The greatest satisfaction is that I could fulfill the dream of my grandmother, my mother and my own".
