Save the Dates!

1000 homes logo2February 24th, 2010, will be HFHC's Legislative Luncheon.  By moving the Luncheon earlier in the legislative session, we hope to gain more attendance, and foster more relationships to capitalize on later in the session.    HFHC's board meeting will follow.

June 12th, 2010, will be Habitat Builds Colorado Day.  All events taking place this weekend will be considered HBCD events.  Hopefully with advanced notice and a later month, more affiliates will be able to participate in this 4th annual event.
Want to Serve One More Family for Under $60K?

Mountain View HS homeIn an innovative program, geometry students from Loveland High School and Mountain View High School of Loveland, Colorado, are each building a 2 bedroom, 1 bath home during the 2009-10 school year.

The  home being built by Mountain View High School is available for purchase at cost ($48k to $54k).  The home is 30' by 30', built to the IRC code, inspected, and will be available to transport to your site in 2 sections in May 2010.

It is not a mobile home, but it is a well constructed energy efficient stick built home.  The home could be placed over a crawl space or over a basement.  The transportation cost is minimal within the state.  Modifications can still be made if you have a specific need.

Contact Tom Moore at 970-744-1048 if you have any interest in a partnership.  You can read about the program in The Coloradoan by clicking here.

Habitat Colorado Awarded $330,000 from Colorado Division of Housing

Habitat for Humanity of Colorado is pleased to announce an award of $330,000 in HOME funding from the Colorado Division of Housing to support the construction of 30 homes across the state.  Funding can be used for land acquisition, predevelopment, infrastructure, or any phase of construction.  Once drawn down for any of these purposes, your affiliate must have the home completed within 18 months.  This funding, which was not available in 2008, will be instrumental in moving Colorado toward the goal of 1000 Homes.

Affiliates will be contacted when funds are available.  For more information, please contact [email protected].

Changes to Anschutz Family Foundation Grant in 2010

After their recent staff retreat, the Anschutz Family Foundation recently informed Habitat Colorado that going forward it will change its relationship with Habitat for Humanity as follows:

1) The Foundation only accept one proposal from Habitat Colorado; they will no longer accept separate proposals from individual affiliates, even during Habitat Colorado's "off-years".

2) As in the past, only rural affiliates will be eligible for funding from the Anschutz Family Foundation through HFHC's competitive application process.

For more information about these changes and the grant in general, please contact [email protected].

Avoid CHFA Post-Closing Fees, Submit All Documents Within 120 Days

As of July 31, 2009, Colorado Housing and Finance Authority will charge a one-time fee of $150 for each mortgage that has documents past 120 days post-closing.  To avoid this fee, make sure to submit all outstanding CHFA documents to Habitat Colorado for review prior to the 120 day deadline.

Ryan at Habitat Colorado will inform you after you have sold a mortgage to CHFA if you have any post-closing documentation.
