| Division of Housing HOME Funds Unavailable for 2008, 2009
All Colorado Division of Housing grants for this year have been drawn down and, as you may have already heard, CDOH has already obligated all of its HOME funds for 2007-2008 and 2008-2009.
The reasons for the scarcity of funds through 2009 are fourfold according to CDOH. First, the decrease in funding from other sources over the past several years has consequently resulted in a rise of requests from CDOH. Second, the affordable rental market over the past several years has been such that CDOH has had to increase funding to rental projects to prevent their foreclosure. Third, a greater number of projects have asked for immediate funding due to falling tax credit commitment rates. Finally, high demand for projects in entitlement areas has increased the number of projects.
HFHC is aggressively pursuing CDBG money from the Division of Housing to replace this important source of funding for affiliates' construction costs, and will keep affiliates up to date about any word from CDOH. |
