Community Banks of Colorado Partnership
HFHC is proud to announce an innovative new partnership with Community Banks of Colorado, one of the top five holding companies in the state!
There are three components to the new relationship, and we are confident it will grow with time.
Legislative Awareness Campaign - This year's LAC will focus on "Who Is a Habitat Family". To increase the visibility of this theme throughout the state, Community Banks has agreed to feature a display in the lobby of each branch profiling a local partner family. This synergy of HFHC campaigns is especially exciting because Community Banks of Colorado's locations correspond to just about every Habitat affiliate location south of I-70.
Build Days - HFHC will select four affiliates to sponsor a Community Banks build day in June. Community Banks will send 15 employees to each site and provide a monetary contribution to the four affiliates selected.
Camp Colorado - Community Banks has joined as a Supporting Sponsor and exhibitor for this year's annual conference, held May 14-17.
AFFILIATES! Remember to submit the pictures and stories of families you want to display at the Community Bank branch near you to ryan@habitatcolorado.org by February 15. |

Building Blocks for Success
Affiliate Tithe (Section 1. Covenant) Affiliate supports the international work of Habitat for Humanity through an annual tithe.
The need for decent & affordable shelter is a worldwide challenge, and Habitat for Humanity is a global partnership response; each U.S. affiliated organization commits to providing significant financial support of house-building efforts in other countries through participating in the tithe program. Acknowledging God's abundant provision, Habitat affiliated organizations will share their first-fruits through the practice of tithing 10% of cash revenues toward international house-building efforts. Affiliates who would like more information, please click here to visit PartnerNet.
Ways to Celebrate Tithing Participate in a Global Village trip to the country in which your affiliate tithes.
Include information about tithing in your affiliate newsletter. In addition to highlighting the number of homes your affiliate has built locally, include the number of homes your affiliate has built through faithfully tithing (average house cost internationally $4200).
Host an international lunch at the build site. Serve food from the country in which your affiliate designates the tithe.
Share information about the country where your affiliate tithes with your staff, board and volunteers. The Tithe department has country information available on the beta PartnerNet, click here.
MSP Development Group Supports Camp Colorado
HFHC is excited to announce a new sponsor for Camp Colorado: Building Blocks for Success. MSP Development Group, a nationally known and award-winning direct marketing agency has joined the conference as a Supporting Sponsor. MSP has been working with non-profits since 1965, and will be one of the conference exhibitors in Estes Park this May. Their client list includes The Salvation Army, American Red Cross, Ronald McDonald House, Goodwill Industries, and various others all across the US.
MSP will be talking with CO and WY affiliates about direct marketing and fundraising services, including prospecting packages, donor cultivation appeals, major donor letters, and much more. They plan, write, design, print, fold, stuff, mail and analyze direct mail all from their offices in Freedom, PA (about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh). This all-in-one place arrangement helps MSP work within tighter deadlines, allow for more customization, and control costs.
By helping organizations maximize new donor growth, and by giving those donors the opportunity to design their own giving plan, MSP has been able to help hundreds of clients grow their donor files and build better long-term relationships. The creative materials are based on local programs and services, are driven by data, and are designed to educate, inform, and produce results.
MSP will be unveiling several mail appeal packages designed for CO and WY affiliates, including an opportunity for a special fall 2008 donor acquisition campaign. If you would like more information about MSP's work, or would like to arrange a meeting during the conference, please contact Shawn Reed, Director of Business Development, sreed@msp-pgh.com or 1.800.876.3211 x 1335.
HFHC appreciates MSP's partnership for Camp Colorado: Building Blocks for Success! Their sponsorship will help to make this year's conference a great success.

HFHC Welcomes Our New Intern, Chrissy Aker
Greetings! My name is Chrissy Aker and I am the newest intern at Habitat for Humanity of Colorado. Currently, I work for the Metro Denver YMCA as a Site Director in School Age Child Care and am pursuing a Master's degree in Nonprofit Management. I have been involved in the nonprofit sector since getting my Bachelor's in Social Work and have worked in various arenas in the field. I am really excited to continue to grow in my professional capacities here at HFHC. A few of the projects I plan to be helping out with include marketing for ReStores and the legislative luncheon, while also assisting with grants management. In the midst of my professional development ventures and work at the YMCA, I find time to get outdoors and enjoy the fresh mountain air on a snowboard.
