August 22 - Tour de Farms
Celebrate healthy eating and active living!
On August 22 join the RMSLA and Rolling Spokes Bike Tours for the 3rd annual Tour de Farms. Riders will be able to join in a leisurely 20 mile tour to various local farms. Visit cutting edge urban agriculture projects, hear presentations from farmers, gain useful tools and knowledge for your own garden, find out ways you can support area efforts to strengthen our local food system and eat delicious local food with delicious local people.

Sustainable Living Fair September 19-20
 The Sustainable Living Fair features 250 exhibitors, 75 workshops, live music and entertainment, local and organic food, and a beer garden.
Keynote speakers include Joseph Cornell, author of Sharing Nature with Children, Bryan Welch, publisher and editorial director of Mother Earth News and Natural Home and Garden, Joshua Onysko, founder and CEO of Pangea Organics, and Francis Moore Lappe, author of Diet for a Small Planet. |
Future Friday September 18, 2009
Poudre School District is partnering with the Rocky Mountain Sustainable Living Association to produce FUTURE FRIDAY on September 18th at the 10th annual Sustainable Living Fair Venue site, located in the open field northwest of Vine and Lemay in Fort Collins, Colorado.
FUTURE FRIDAY will be a "green field day" for Poudre School District Junior High and High School students, to connect local youth with the national and regional sustainability experts that are gathered in Fort Collins during the Sustainable Living Fair. There will be numerous interactive workshops and activities for students from 10am to 2pm on that day.
Relevant and current workshops & panels on: Environmental Matters, Your Future and Money, Green Careers & Education Oportunities, Renewable Energy, The Future of Food, and "Solutions".
Also included are sessions on craftmanship, exercise/relaxation, music and presentations on the Main Stage, an alternatively fueled vehicle showcase and more. Complete schedule at: www.SustainableLivingFair.org

RMSLA FUNDRAISER
Friday, September 18, 7-10 PM At the Fair Venue NW corner of Lemay & Vine Fort Collins, Colorado
Come enjoy an elegant, exciting and fun evening event that will be mindfully conscious, green and gorgeous. Special guests include: Bryan Welch, publisher of Mother Earth News, Jessica Kellner, publisher of Natural Home Magazine, Joseph Cornell, founder of the Sharing Nature Foundation and Joshua Onysko, founder of Pangea Organics.
The Blue & Green Ball will be the only Fort Collins social event staged in an elegantly appointed, beautifully green-themed tent. Everything about the event will be green - from attire suggestions to eco-centric decorations.
The event will also be environmentally green, with exquisite all-natural and local gourmet appetizers, innovative energy alternatives, and zero-waste stations. The event will be 100% carbon neutral, through partnership with the Colorado Carbon Fund to offset the event's already minimized footprint. New Belgium Brewing Company will bottle a commemorative beer that is both local and organic just for the event.
This will be an evening that makes a difference...to our guests, to our respective organizations, to our community.
Tickets: $40 each through August 31, $50 after that date and at the door. Tickets include appetizers and 2 drink tokens.

Raintree Charter SchoolA new option in holistic elementary education is emerging in Fort Collins. Inspired by Waldorf Education, community and sustainable living the Raintree Charter School initiative is underway and gaining momentum. Waldorf Education has long been a treasured option in Fort Collins. The opening of Raintree, slated for fall 2010, will serve our community's increasing demand and desire for holistic education choices. Dedicated parents and educators have come together to work on this amazing, grassroots, community built school, seeking to join the ranks of the many public schools around the world successfully incorporating Waldorf methods. RMSLA chosen as the "Charity of the Month" at Odell Brewing Company

| The Rocky Mountain Sustainable Living Association has been selected as the recipient of the taster tray program at Odell Brewing Company during the month of August. Stop by the brewery between 11am and 6pm, Monday through Saturday and help us raise funds for our organization. On August 19th, Odell Brewing will donate an additional 10% of all their retail sales to the RMSLA. |
