- Computer based training (CBT) provider Seagull has introduced a new software module to incorporate regulatory changes under the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes (IMSBC) Code that became mandatory under the SOLAS Convention on January 1st, 2011. >>more

 

BNWAS launched by Totem Plus  
- Totem Plus has launched its new BNWAS (Bridge Navigational Watch Alarm System), a system which monitors bridge activity and raises alarm if the Officer On Watch (OOW) becomes incapable of performing their duties. >>more

 

Raytheon to supply Malaysian newbuilds  
- Raytheon Anschuetz Singapore reports that it is to supply navigational bridge equipment to two 75 metre multipurpose offshore support vessels being constructed at Nam Cheong Dockyard, and a 60 metre AHTS newbuild which will be constructed at the Berjaya shipyard, both in Malaysia. >>more

 

FLAGSHIP project launches software system  
- FLAGSHIP, the Pan-European maritime transport project part funded by the EU, has successfully developed software that can forecast the condition of a ship's hull over time to help improve the efficacy of surveys and reduce the amount of time a ship is out of service. >>more

- Great Offshore of India has opened a new integrated offshore vessel and crane handling simulation facility, based on systems provided by ARI Simulation. >>more

- Tideland Signal has supplied the Commissioners of Irish Lights (CIL) with three SeaBeacon 2 System 6 dual-band racons for applications around the coast of Ireland. >>more

 

Deltamarin contracted for ship efficiency project
- The European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) has awarded a contract to Deltamarin for a study on tests and trials of the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI), as developed by IMO. >>more
