Cemex UK Marine introduces purchasing software
- UK-based Marine Software has completed the supply of its MPSWin Marine Purchasing System to Cemex UK Marine, for installation on board six dredgers and in the company's technical office in Southampton. >>more

Martek launches BNWAS
- Martek Marine has launched its new bridge navigation watch and alarm system (BNWAS), which it says has already received a full range of type approvals from major classification societies to enable shipowners to fit the IMO-mandated equipment immediately.  >>more

Boeing to provide support for Iridium NEXT
- Iridium has entered into two long-term agreements with Boeing for maintenance, operations and support of Iridium's satellite network, including a deal to act as operations and maintenance provider for Iridium's new constellation, Iridium NEXT. >>more

Container shipping software released by Lloyd's Register
- Lloyd's Register has developed a container-securing software system to support its new rules framework for safer, more effective modern ship designs with regard to container stacks on deck. >>more

- Cobham Satcom has introduced its new Sea Tel XX10 marine stabilised antenna, specifically developed to offer Ku-band VSAT services in the maritime environment. >>more

Milano Teleport extends VSAT coverage
- Italian satellite gateway operator Milano Teleport has announced that it is to offer broadband satellite communications to mobile and fixed users in the African and Central Asian regions, via the Intelsat 902 satellite at 62° East. >>more

Costa introduces whale avoidance system
- Costa Cruises has teamed up with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to introduce an onboard system for monitoring whale activity with the aim of preventing collisions and accidents with the giant mammals, while also working with the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (JRC) on systems to monitor air pollution. >>more

Roy Wheat to add propulsion control system
- The USNS Roy Wheat, one of thirteen container and RoRo ships operated by the US Military Sealift Command and one of the 32 ships in its Prepositioning Programme, is to install a new Propulsion Control System (PCS) from HPI. >>more
