Vroon agrees 120 vessel deal for IT standardisation project
- Palantir reports that it has been awarded a contract to supply IT systems to more than 120 vessels operated by the Vroon Group of companies. >>more

1,000th order for Ship Equip VSAT
- Ship Equip reports that it has signed the 1,000th order for its VSAT service, as part of a fleet contract for 67 vessels with an unnamed shipping company. >>more

Thrane to launch VSAT antenna
- Thrane & Thrane reports that it is to launch a new, in-house developed VSAT antenna for the maritime market. >>more

Combined solution for Normand Clough from AST
- AST Australia has been awarded a contract to supply a maritime communication system, including VSAT and FleetBroadband terminals, to the two-year-old Normand Clough, operated through a joint venture between Clough and Helix. >>more

Ku-band networks expanding
- Marlink has announced the extension of its Ku-band VSAT services to include Hong Kong, the Middle East and the Indian Ocean, while partners SpeedCast and Eutelsat have also expanded the reach of their maritime VSAT service to incorporate more than 20 Ku-band beams covering major shipping lanes. >>more

ShipServ agrees Asian and Norwegian contracts
- ShipServ reports that it has agreed a number of new deals for its e-commerce services from shipping businesses based in Hong Kong, while also tying up a contract with a major Norwegian commercial fleet manager. >>more

Jeppesen agrees deal for Brazilian data
- Brazil's Directorate of Hydrography and Navigation (DHN) has reached an agreement with Jeppesen to give the navigation technology company access to all of the nautical charts and data published by DHN for Brazil's sovereign waters.  >>more

Globalstar upgrades ahead of satellite launches
- Globalstar reports that it has installed the new hardware and software upgrades required to support its upcoming second-generation satellite constellation at its operations and control centre in Milpitas, as well as its backup control centre in El Dorado Hills, both situated in California, US. >>more

- Plain Sailing Communications has launched its 'sms4crew' service, a system for seafarers to send and receive low cost text messages whilst at sea. >>more

- Fairsky Shipping & Trading has selected the new Seagull Training System for use across its entire fleet of 14 South Korean-built bulk carriers and offices. >>more
