With cold winter days fast approaching I
thought it might be a good time to suggest a
few fun books for curling up by the fire
and some fun romantic comedies to lighten
those cold
winter days. Guys - if you have any
suggestions for additions to these lists let
me know!
Books:
We have to start the list with Emily Brontė's
"Wuthering Heights." One of the greatest
love stories ever written.
Now we'll move on to something less classic
with Stephanie Meyers "Twilight." Forget that
it's also a top grossing movie, ladies it is
one great love story! Though be forewarned,
it's a young adult book and the author's
style may drive some of you crazy (she can be
overly descriptive and go on and on and on
when it isn't necessary to the storyline).
Something the men might enjoy a bit more than
the other suggestions is "What We Talk About
When We Talk About Love: Stories" by Raymond
Carver. So this one may not fall in the
"fun" category of books as
it's not your most upbeat compilation of
stories, but it certainly makes you think.
Last on the reading list, a book that is not
particularly intellectual or likely to become
a classic, but it gives you some great
insight into the world of matchmaking!
"Match Me If You Can" by Susan Elizabeth
Phillips.
Movies:
I've got to start the list with Music and
Lyrics with Hugh Grant and
Drew Barrymore. One of my all time favorite
romantic comedies and for those of you who
grew up
in the 80's with me, you'll love the music video.
Watching How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
with Mathew McConaughey and Kate Hudson
resonates in some way with most everyone and
you can't help but laugh!
There's Something About Mary is funny
and sometimes a bit off color but with
Cameron Diaz and Ben Stiller you should enjoy it.
Lastly, you'll get a glimpse into the psyche
of an extreme sports fan in Fever
Pitch but like the rest of these
suggestions you'll find a happy ending!
