Summer Jobs:
Although summer work is not required of current Webb students, they will often ask if I know of any jobs available for the summer vacation period. The students are finished with their Webb responsibilities on June 22nd and classes begin on August 22nd. If you are interested in hiring a student for the summer, please email me, Josie Wilson, at jwilson@webb-institute.edu, or call me at 516-671-2215 and I will pass along the information to the students. Please let me know what class year you are looking for, i.e., rising senior, rising junior, etc.

Alumni Spotlight: David S. Homiak '75
Like many hopeful students accepted at Webb, I came with dreams of designing racing sailboats and cruising yachts. Racing a Flying Dutchman, sailing a Pacific Catamaran, and working as a harbor rat in Chicago during high school had made me eager to learn about naval architecture; I'd read books about it and even poured molten lead to make batten weights with my like-minded cousin (Steve Shepstone, '77). more...

Homecoming 2011

The Webb Family celebrated Homecoming on May 21st. This year's alumni/ae spirit was bolstered by a fantastic Retirement Banquet the previous evening for Dean Roger Compton and Professor Jacques Hadler. Saturday's Homecoming activities included the perennial schedule with several exciting embellishments. Students presented highlights from their Winter Work experiences, insight into what current Winter Works entail, and a summary of the Leadership Program. President Olsen dedicated the new Waterview Dining Room and the Thorpe Field Scoreboard. The day of class reunions was capped off by a Webb Family Singers reunion, and their presentation of "Willie Webb's SNAME Follies." For pictures from Saturday's festivities, click here. |
