Founder's Day 2011
This year our annual celebration of Founder's Day was marked by much enthusiasm and, strangely, the absence of rain. The enthusiasm came from faculty, staff, and students all pitching in together to make the day one of hard work and good fellowship. As is our custom, all hands proceeded to their assigned tasks of giving back to Webb in small measure by participating in the afternoon's field day. Tasks included everything from washing windows to planting flowers, cleaning up the beach, and painting the barn doors on Haeberle Lab. more... |

Phonathon 2011
Freshman Callers Dial for Dollars
During this year's two-night Phonathon (March 29th and 31st), the 17 members of our freshman class secured over $80,000 in pledges, working hard to reach as many individuals as they could. More than 333 alumni, friends and past parents were contacted either by phone or follow-up letter, and the entire Webb community appreciates the efforts of everyone involved, and especially those who pledged so generously. more...

Alumni Spotlight: Richard Labasky '76
I applied to Webb because I had the idea that I would want to learn about the engineering principles needed to design underwater structures. Pretty idealistic, and probably naïve, especially since I think I was the only one in my class who had never been on a boat of any type before! But Webb did seem to be the right place to be for my plans at the time.
After graduation, I started working in the research section as an ME at Sun Shipbuilding & Dry Dock near Philadelphia. It was a good place to start, especially since I wasn't pigeon-holed in a specific role. Plus, I had a great group of co-workers and mentors, including a few Webbies of various decades, one of whom was Webb's recently appointed Dean, Rick Neilson. (Yes, I'm of that older generation!) more... |

Endow Your Annual Gift
By Lincoln D. Cathers '56

The Webb Heritage Society was established in 1991, to recognize the generosity and foresight of those who have taken steps to remember Webb Institute in their estate plans. Since then, the Heritage Society has grown to155 total members; seventy-four members are deceased, and of our 1,021 living alumni, 77 are members of the Heritage Society and have made provisions to benefit Webb Institute. Five of our living Heritage Society members are not graduates of Webb. more... |

Webb Parents Association
Beautification of Freshman Dining Room
The remodeling of the freshman dining room is nearly complete - it looks great! Take a peek next time you are at Webb, I'm sure you will agree it's a grand improvement.
Many thanks go out to Mike Abbruscato and Geoff Whitely (Director of Facilities), and his crew who helped with the design elements and the improvements and especially to the parents who chipped in financially to accomplish this much needed task. more... |
