This is about the time of the year that we start celebrating the breakthrough of spring, but, this year, it seems our lesson is patience!  We can celebrate the cherry blossoms bursting with color, despite all the rain, wind and cold!  However, we have it on good authority that spring is indeed on its way--after all, in all our years, it has never NOT appeared! 

 

If you miss the sunshine, remember, each yoga class is like finding your own inner sunshine, plus you can fill up on all the Light that is here to help you blossom and shine!  It's a great cure for the pre-spring blahs.

Easter is Sunday, April 24, and a few teachers are taking the day off. Watch for the Easter Holiday schedules in the studio or on the website.

 

Is it time for a tune up? You give your car regular service, so how about treating your yoga practice with the same care? A half hour or one hour private is a wonderful way to re-inspire your yoga with personal attention. Is there a pose you have struggled with and are now ready to master? Do you have a physical issue that can be addressed with yoga? Your teachers are experts in therapeutic and personalized yoga.

 

We had a wonderful group for Savitri's Welcoming the Light 1 - Love meditation workshop this last weekend!  The next opportunity to join Savitri for this workshop will be Sept 24-25 - but don't delay because her workshops fill fast!

 

Where have all the teachers gone.....  You may be singing this tune over the July Fourth Weekend, when most of your teachers will travel to Sleeping Lady Resort in Leavenworth for the First Annual Purna Yoga Teachers retreat!  We will have a reduced schedule and special guest teachers at the studio, so that our teachers can spend 5 days with their teachers. They will do yoga, meditate, get updates on the evolution and deeper work of Purna Yoga, and rest and play. Over 50 teachers are coming to the retreat, from across the country and Europe! Expect to see your YC teachers return with big smiles on their faces!

Remembering Your Heart in a Busy World

heart keyHere are some simple suggestions to help you stay connected to the beauty of who you truly are as you move about your day.

  • Set a meeting in your email calendar for a "snack break".   When it pops up to remind you, do a meditation snack and then click the snooze button to remind you again in 15 or 30 minutes.  Repeat throughout the day until it is time to go home.
  • Create heart centered login passwords.  Some examples are "Joy4all", "LoveMe!!", or "Time2change!"
  • Place a picture of a candle in your workspace or as your computer's desktop background.  
  • Keep a short inspirational book in the bag you take to work so you always have it there if you feel you want to read a small amount during a break or your lunchtime.   Some of the best books I have found useful are Rays of Light and Thoughts and Aphorisms.
  • SMILE! Stop throughout the day and notice if you are smiling.  If you are not smiling, then find something to make you smile and connect to a happiness deep within.  The Mother says "Try to be happy - immediately you will be closer to the Light."

Q & A on Aadil's Upcoming "Spontaneous Immersion"

Kirsten, one of the managers at Yoga Centers, was trying to get more information from Aadil about his upcoming 5-day Immersion at Yoga Center.  Here is part of their conversation:

 

K:  Aadil, what are you planning to teach in June for your 5-day Immersion?

A: I really don't know! If I knew, it wouldn't be spontaneous!

K:  Do you mean you plan to simply show up and see what happens?

A:  Exactly - but it is never simple!  This is a skill I have cultivated over many, many years (over 45 years immersed in yoga), so it is now second nature to feel the room and know what to teach next.  The students in the room will tell me energetically exactly what they need.  Then, I simply fill their need.

A:  The topic will all depend on who is there. If there is a topic then you will go to the workshop for that topic. If there is no topic, then you go for yourself. So when you come to a class you are expecting to get something for yourself, not to learn a particular topic. Now you will still learn a lot about a lot of topics - about your shoulder, hips, heart center, etc.  - but you will also learn a lot about what you need, not what I want to teach you.

April 12:  Cure Disease by Removing Toxins  One of the reasons we get sick is because our bodies are overwhelmed with toxicity.  In 1912, Nobel Peace Prize winner Alexis Carrel, began an experiment where he kept chicken heart cells alive in a test tube for 34 years. While chickens usually live up to five years, Dr. Carrel theorized that cells are immortal given the right conditions.  Every forty-eight hours, the heart cells were given clean mineralized water, so the cells always had toxicity removed and were given mineral-rich environment in which to live. Two years after Carrel's death, the experiment was terminated.


Our blood is our "mineralized water."  If we can keep our blood mineralized and clean, think of the possibility for our health!
