Happy Birthday dear Yoga Centers,

Happy Birthday to You!

On February 1st, 1992, Yoga Centers opened its doors in Studio 1 with six teachers. Today, we have three studios and 26 teachers! In 1992, the cost of a 1.5 hour class with Aadil was $12. Today, for the majority of our students, the average cost of a class is still $12!

"Settling in to the New Studio"

From Yoga Centers' very first newsletter in 1992:

"Yoga Centers opened its doors to the public on Feb 1, 1992. It was a great celebration for all of the people who had worked so hard to make Yoga Centers a reality. Over 55 people attended the opening celebration and class with Aadil.

blessing

"The event began at 9 am with all of us in front of the entrance while Aadil offered prayers and blessings for our new home. We then proceeded into the studio for more chanting, prayers, and asana class for all 55 people. It was a special event filled with many good wishes, flowers, and kind thoughts.

"A wonderful energy has begun to blossom, and as one participant put it, 'Yoga Centers is filled with love molecules.' Now that we are in our new home, Yoga Centers is beginning to feel like home."

Reversing the Aging Process

spine healthWhen you picture an archetypical old woman, she stands hunched over, her spine shrunken and collapsed. Not the image of optimum health, is it? Now picture a young woman: she stands erect, with a natural spinal curve and length in her torso.

Re-creating and maintaining this length is something we call "Spinal Rejuvenation". It is a process of slowing and reversing the effects of gravity that may cause spinal degeneration and nervous system damage, resulting all too often in pain, weakness, and numbness in the lower back and legs.

A healthy spine is essential to a healthy nervous system and the optimum health of our bodies.  Think about it. The nervous system is responsible for controlling, regulating, and communicating all functions of the body, including thought, learning, memory, and the senses. Through the senses, the nervous system enables us to perceive our environment, both external and internal.

wall ropesAadil has created the Spinal Rejuvenation Series using the wall ropes to enable students to perform supported inversions safely and comfortably. In these inversions, the force of gravity puts the spine in traction, reversing gravity's usual compression so healing may begin

To maintain the benefits of the Spinal Rejuvenation Series, it is recommended that students do the Series once a week. Therefore, Paul created the weekly Spinal Rejuvenation class. Students have been very positive about their experience of the class. One student wrote: "Spine health is a major issue today.  I'm going to try and make this a regular appointment." Another wrote: "I really love your class! I like going over the same routine each time, I like your instruction...everything about it."

Spinal Rejuvenation, Wednesdays, 7:30-9:00 pm, with Paul Barritt-Flatt (use your regular class pass)
