Greetings!
Happy New Year! 2011 is the year of Unity - in fact, "Community Unity" is the theme according to the Divine! What this means is that we will find more ways to feel and express our unity with others through projects, services, offering support, receiving help, and generally being less isolated and more together. So keep up your yoga and meditation practice so you can see beyond the outer appearance of separation, and see the emergence of greater joy, love, oneness and Truth. Please hold this prayer in your hearts:
"Awakened to the meaning of my heart,
That to feel love and oneness is to live,
And this the magic of our golden change,
Is all the truth I know or seek, O sage."

| Wealth and the Path of Yoga - a conversation with Aadil and Savitri | | |
Aadil: The yoga of wealth is not so much about creating wealth, but about bringing Spirit into wealth. When we are truly motivated to acquire wealth for a higher purpose, such as establishing more joy, life and peace on earth, then our actions have much greater power behind them. It makes us act with more "oomph" from the inside, rather than a selfish reason from the outside, like a bigger house or fancier car.
Savitri: Yes, wealth can do so much more that get us "stuff"! Wealth is an amazing tool to support the body in so many ways to help it hold Spirit. We don't seem to understand this: Wealth buys a lot of things for us to nourish the body and give it a proper place to rest and grow. So often wealth and spirituality were separated, and now that we are trying to integrate these two worlds, wealth helps the body to have the time to complete this integration.
Aadil: It's true! You see in societies that are dealing with their basic survival needs that they have no time for spirituality. When you have to wash the clothes on a washboard, the amount of effort it takes to live life prohibits the freedom to pursue other things. Of course, you can do everything in a spiritual way; all of your chores can be transformed into meditations. Nothing is wasted when you bring awareness into your time.
Savitri: But life is about more than just survival - life is about experience, about asking "Where can I blossom here? Where can I experience what I have never experienced before?" We are meant to blossom and experience all there is on this amazing planet and in this amazing body. That's where wealth can be such an amazing gift, giving us the time to explore other aspects of our planet and ourselves!

| How to Use Sexual Energy | | |
Sexual energy is a very powerful part of our human form. It is what I call the vital energy, the survival energy that Nature and the animal kingdom create to live on and to procreate. It is fueled by a powerful attraction energy, desire. When you begin the path of yoga - which is really the study of the body and refining how it works - you must learn to harness that energy, control it, call it back and lift it up to the Heart Chakra, which is the seat of the soul in the body.
The soul can then change this energy from desire into light energy. Yes, we can actually transform this lower vibration of energy, which is Nature's energy for all her creation, into Divine energy, which is the energy of the Creator Itself, the energy of love, divinity and Truth. That's what we teach, how to lift the energy from the pelvis and facilitate your body's amazing ability to take this energy of desire and separation into the Heart Center and transform it to create more of you. Then you can harness this creation energy to create according to the Divine in you, and no longer create from stories of separation. -Savitri

| Heart Health and Walking | | |

One of the simplest things you can do to build your health is to take walks. When you walk, your body's neurological patterning stimulates the brain. So when you are walking and swinging your arms (when your left leg is in front and your left arm is behind you) this cross patterning stimulates the brain and promotes health.
I recommend that everyone walk at least one mile per day. Walk fast enough so that you cannot talk, but are not out of breath. If you can maintain an idle conversation, then you need to pick up the pace in order to get your heart beating fast enough. This is what I do whenever I travel. After dinner, especially, I am always out walking. -Aadil

| Infratonic Therapy Machine now available! | | |
Many of you have heard Aadil talk about Infratonic therapy and some have even experienced its sound healing. This wonderful machine is now available through Purna Yoga Centers.
When our body's cells become traumatized by injury, surgery, chemical attack, or even strong emotions, they often go into shock, or cellular trauma. The sound waves of Infratonic therapy dissolve cellular trauma, helping to stop excess inflammation and relieve pain quickly. Infratonic Therapy is a therapeutic massage method that infuses damaged or abnormal tissue with high and low frequency signals, or sound waves. The Infratonic differs from typical massagers because its signal varies randomly in frequency within a specific frequency range, thereby making it more penetrating and more effective.
The Infratonic:
- Relieves pain, particularly nerve pain
- Facilitates deep massage
- Enhances local circulation
- Increases energy level
- Relaxes muscles
- Dramatically reduces inflammation
- Speeds muscle cell healing
- Speeds healing of broken bones
We offer two sizes: regular ($725) and travel size ($395). To order, please contact Mona at mona@yogacenters.com or 425-747-7022. |

| The Expansiveness of the Heart | | | From the acclaimed book, Fire of Love,
by Aadil Palkhivala
Our work on the yoga mat is not merely to discover the expansiveness of the pectoralis major, but also to discover the expansiveness of the heart. It is not merely to do a handstand without support, but to work such that, when the time comes, we are strong enough to stand up for ourselves, even when unsupported. Our work is not to hold a headstand alone in the center of the room, but to joyously stand for what we believe in, even when we must stand alone. Does God wear a perpetual frown or an eternal smile? Does the "divinity that shapes our ends" sculpt them from righteous wrath or compassionate bliss? Looking deep inside ourselves, we know the answer - we feel the freedom. We evolve not with anger, but with joy. Not with a virtuous frown, but with a calm and blissful inner smile |
