NEW! Purna Yoga Media Store

October 2010
Greetings!
Aadil and Mirra in Hawaii

This month, we are dedicating our entire issue to the Purna Yoga Foundation - a non-profit dedicated to creating the LIFE DIVINE here and now.

Please read more below and if you feel ready to participate in any way, we welcome your reply.

May this quote inspire your week:

"Awakened to the meaning of my heart

That to feel love and oneness is to live

And this the magic of our golden change

Is all the truth I know or seek..."

         -Sri Aurobindo, Savitri, page 724

With our love, JOY, and gratitude,

Aadil and Savitri

"There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root." - Henry David Thoreau

The Purna Yoga Foundation is at work alleviating the very root cause of all suffering: separation from the Source. All problems in the world today stem from this one break: we have lost our connection to our Soul, to the Source, to The Divine.

The work of the foundation is to go to the very root of suffering, and to heal it by teaching Purna Yoga Meditation to more and more people.

When you give to the Purna Yoga Foundation, you vote for a world of abundance, radiance, pure love and true peace - all attainable within our lifetime.

Dear Purna Yoga Community,

Almost three years ago, a small group of people came together with the vision of creating a not-for-profit organization focused on sharing the gift of Purna Yoga with the world.

Today, we are happy to announce that the Purna Yoga Foundation is fully established as a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) charitable organization, with the mission to "transform human life into the Life Divine, through heart centered meditation techniques for the spiritual evolution of the human consciousness."

Through the Purna Yoga Foundation, we will share with people the tools to awaken their inner wisdom, and how to live from joy and love. The Purna Yoga Meditation techniques can make the most impact on the world when we take them out into the world and share with others what we have found works in our own lives.

Specifically, the Foundation will offer free or low-cost meditation classes and workshops in the community, at businesses, churches, community centers, and anywhere people want to live a more heart-centered life.

With Gratitude,

Purna Yoga Foundation Board of Directors

Erin Honeycutt, president; Debbie St Marie, vice president; Kathy Triplett, secretary; Rich DelMastro, treasurer; Aadil Palkhivala; Angelica Rose; and Kumar Upadhyayula

Special Courses with Aadil!
Aadil PalkhivalaComing in October to Yoga Centers

October is a lovely month to visit the Northwest - the weather is usually mild, the air is clean and fresh, and the fall colors are gorgeous. In addition, Aadil is teaching two new special workshops that are open to the general public (with 6 months of yoga experience). Aadil ususally doesn't teach these to the general public, so don't miss them!

We interviewed Aadil about the concepts in these workshops, and offer the 17 minute interview for you to download.  Listen >

Remind to Re-Heart
From the acclaimed book, Fire of Love,
by Aadil Palkhivala
Fire of Love, by Aadil Palkhivala

Constantly remind your students to pause, dive into the Heart Center, and find the inner smile. This reminder is most beneficial at the beginning and end of class, in the moments after deep poses such as Shirshasana and Sarvangasana, and, of course, during Shavasana. The language I often use is: "Draw your eyes inside yourself and look within. Observe the warmth and equanimity of your inner smile and the joy that it brings."

Also, teach your students to occasionally place the fingertips of their right hand lightly on their sternum. Before and between poses, this touch will remind them to connect with the bliss within their heart. The mind has the memory of joy and the anticipation of it; only the heart has the experience or revelation of joy. Move your students away from deriving their joy from memories because memories are also full of bitterness and sadness. Additionally, move them away from the expectation of joy. This expectation contains the potential for sadness because the joy may not come to be. The mind lives in the past (memories) or in the future (expectations), while the Heart Center alone lives in the Now. The Heart Center knows only equanimity, so there is no place for sadness to dwell. Equanimity is the state that can't be ruffled, a smooth and steady bliss.
