Welcome to our first issue of Community News for our local students! Once a month we'll send you information about what's going on at Yoga Centers.
We start this month with our 18th Anniversary celebration! If any of you were here in 1992, you may recognize the original entryway - that's Studio 2 in this photo!

From Eyes to Knees, and All Points in Between! Why I Love Taking Class with Aadil, by Mona
If you never considered taking a workshop with Aadil because you thought it would be too intimidating, I invite you to reconsider!
Rarely do the rest of us get to study with him - until now! Aadil has put together a special medley of workshops because he wants to share what he knows with those who are newer to yoga. You can take all or just parts of the weekend medley. Don't pass up this chance to experience Aadil.
Last year I personally video-taped the Healing the Eyes workshop. I was amazed at what I learned about eye health - just by observing! I was behind the camera and wished I could have focused on the eye exercises! There is so much that can be done to help your eyes regenerate without having to get stronger glasses each year. Aadil has not held this workshop very often over the last few years and it's really priceless in its content.
If Kathy, Kirsten and I didn't have to hold down the fort here, we would all be in Aadil's Anti-Aging workshop for the spine! This man is masterful at poses that help the spine regenerate and re-hydrate. Aadil had me take photos last year during the 10-day Therapeutic Teacher training. As I took pictures and listened to him, my respect for him grew SO much (and it was already at a high level). He knows so much, it's like 10 of the best physicians all in one body! You will learn a tremendous amount about your spine and how to take care of it. That alone is priceless - just ask someone with chronic back issues! And if you have a wall rope system at home, you definitely won't want to miss this one. If you plan to do the Neck, Shoulders, Upper Back and the Healing the Hips and Knees, this will be fantastic preparation for those two. Baby that spine! It's the only one you have.
The Yoga Nidra - now that's a completely different experience. Aadil gives this workshop during the Hawaii Retreat and we all scramble to save our place in the yoga room before dinner for this one! If you have never been able to feel what DEEP relaxation really feels like, come and experience Aadil's hypnotic voice. It's an opportunity to really let your subconscious know you are serious about manifesting a particular new thing in your life. It's an incredible experience for your consciousness, subconscious, and your body!
And of course, Pranayama - we all need to breathe! We just get to learn how to do it better and much more consciously! Your nervous system will be so soothed by this workshop and it's such a gift to supplement your meditation practice. Just think of all the times you sigh when you are under stress - you unconsciously use your breath to release something. We all take our breath for granted, and yet nothing is possible without it.
In close, if you have even been too intimidated to take Aadil's Tuesday night class, then you should definitely reconsider this Medley. I am not the most flexible person by any means (my hips are seriously tight!), but I go to his class because what I gain from being around him lifts me to a new place. What I feel after class is gratitude from allowing myself to be a student around him. Gratitude that my body lets me do as much as it could, and I love HOW Aadil teaches. He is SO kind in his words, and so gracious. His stories are rich and pertinent. He is such a gifted speaker - these workshops really become an experience - you can really feel what Purna Yoga is. Don't let intimidation or stiffness keep you from coming!

New Healthy Living Class
We are really excited by the new Healthy Living class offered each Tuesdays from 7:30-8:30 pm. This class is so rich with information, and covers food, supplements, what to eat and what to avoid, environment, understanding illnesses, principles of nutrition and how the body works, and much more.
For example, in this week's class (on January 26), Aadil talked about the importance of Vitamin D3 and the evidence that shows widespread deficiencies in most people. In fact, a recent study was done in a prison among three wards. Two of the wards experienced heavy flu outbreaks, and the third had none. The difference? The third ward received Vitamin D3! Aadil suggests taking 2,000-5,000 mg (IUs) per day.
This is a drop-in class, so it is covered by the regular class passes! Therefore, if you have an Unlimited Pass, it's practically free! | |
