When you bring Light into your body, you are aligning your soul with your body. By focusing on the simple image of Light that knows the truth of everything, and by focusing on the feeling of love that is the highest vibration the body can connect with, you are welcoming your soul into your body with amazing precision. You have integrated precise energetic alignment with precise physical alignment. You've got the whole package. 

This has nothing to do with the outward appearance of the pose. Your pose may look outwardly perfect, but if you are inwardly imbalanced or disconnected, you won't pick up the vibration that the asana is meant to bring into the body. When you work with the inner precision given us by the Pillar of Light, you will know how to move the body to pick up the vibration of wisdom that that asana is meant to give.

Meditation
Meditation May 2008 Rules

From the time we are in the cradle, we are told what to do: don't eat these foods, don't think these thoughts, don't see these images, and so forth.  We don't need those rules of conduct when we are in tune with ourselves through the regular practice of meditation. Then your body knows what to taste, what to smell, what to think, what to hear.  That is one of the many gifts of meditation.

Applied Philosophy
Philosophy May 2008 Purpose 
 
Purpose is always more important than performance.  On a yoga mat and in life, everything depends on our intension, on how we do something rather than merely on what we do.  Therefore, a truck driver who is driving with the intension of living his dharma and is completely focused on his work is far better than a yoga student who has spent fifty years doing yoga because he wants a more shapely body. So in your practice, watch your purpose.

 The Gifts of Flax  Nutrition May 2008
 
Flax seeds are one of nature's greatest gifts to humankind. They help maintain normal cholesterol levels. Their essential fatty acids promote healthy levels of blood pressure, as well as healthy joints, eye health, and healthier skin. The soluble fiber in flax helps normalize blood sugar levels, prevents overeating, and regulates bowel movements. The oils in flax are the most abundant plant source of alpha-linolenic acid which helps improve cognitive function.  Flax is also nature's richest source of lignans which protect against premature aging.  I drink two tablespoons of flax seed oil (blended with ground flax seeds) every day. Caution: Flax oil goes rancid quickly. If grinding your own seeds, clean the grinder regularly to prevent rancidity.

Purna Yoga Immersion 
with Aadil Palkhivala and Select Senior Teachers
Monday July 28 - Saturday August 2
 
Enjoy this rare opportunity to spend six days immersed in the whole of yoga.  Take your yoga deeper into your life and experience your inner energy, peace, and joy that Purna Yoga inspires.  You will refine your asana in standing poses, inversions, twists, backbends, frontbends, and restoratives.  You will also learn classic Purna Yoga sequences, basic pranayama, Purna Yoga Meditation to focus the mind and open your heart, yoga anatomy, nutrition, and applied yogic philosophy.  The immersion inspires personal growth and transformation as you become more conscious of the subtle and deeper aspects of yoga in your life.  A valuable packet of handouts will be given to each participant, covering sequences, philosophy, meditation, and nutrition.  Aadil brings together some of the finest Purna Yoga teachers to join him in teaching this course. 
Prerequisite:  Minimum of 6 months alignment-based asana.
