Member Spotlight - Venus and The Cellar Bar
|
Diners in the greater Easthampton area were treated to a new dining option when Venus and The Cellar Bar opened at 95 Main Street, Easthampton, in June 2009. Voted Best New Restaurant and Best New Bar by readers of the Valley Advocate, the eatery has two floors, giving people a choice between fancier dining upstairs and a more laid-back bar atmosphere downstairs.
Michael Vito, who co-owns Venus and The Cellar Bar with Lisa Fusco, describes the dining room as "elegant but still casual, with 19th-century brick walls adorned with local artwork and a view of the busy kitchen." Downstairs "has a warm, lively and contemporary feel with a cherry-wood bar, cozy fireplace and the same great food."
The newest addition to the menu is the "Venus Burger" served in the bar on Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights; a special prix fix menu is available upstairs on those same nights. Events and private parties also take place in the Cellar Bar, including a recent fundraiser for the Chamber's holiday lights program.
Vito notes that Easthampton is going through "a real renaissance," with the arts and cultural events growing rapidly, and that "its strong sense of community makes it an extremely attractive place to do business." In the past 25 years he has seen the community evolve and prosper, and now "all of us at Venus and The Cellar Bar are extremely grateful to be able to participate in that."
