FSU prides itself on accepting more highly qualified freshman each year. The entering freshman class of 2016 is 11% Jewish. "Members of Both Tribes" make FSU #18 in the nation for Jewish populations at state school. What  better way to stay connected than to join Hillel for big events in the coming weeks! Use the quick link in the "In This Issue" box on the right. As always, last minute changes will be posted at the calendar on the website.

EVERY SHABBAT THIS SUMMER
Shabbat in a box is back!! If you want to have a nice Shabbat dinner with your friends this week or anytime this summer email us. You make the dinner and we'll pack everything you need for Shabbat in a BOX. Best of all, it's free!

Shabbat on the Strip

Start summer session C off right with a delicious free Shabbat pizza dinner and head to the Tennessee st. Strip with Ron afterwards. Services start at 7p followed by dinner. Get to know the Tallahassee night life as you settle into your new home! 

We'll be back to our weekly schedule, tho' you may find us in Suwannee or on Landis, so watch your enewsletter or check the calendar at the website.

Moving into your dorm and forget the one thing that makes your home Jewish? Come get a FREE mezuzah for move in at the Hillel table during Seminole Discovery. If you can't make this email Ron and he'll bring the mezuzah to you.

Mitzvah Monday at MOE'S
Monday, July 16 from 11-3p (Meet at Hillel for carpool)
Want to do an hour of Mitzvah (community service) and then enjoy lunch with some FSJews? Join Hillel at FSU and carpool every other Monday for Summer C to the Big Bend Homeless Coalition for an hour of service. Afterwards enjoy a $5 "Monday at Moes" lunch meal which includes a burrito, drink, and chips. If you can't make it for the Mitzvah but still want to come to Moes? Say your with Hillel and receive a Free drink with your meal.

Bored at home or in between classes? Come chill at Hillel with Ron and use our internet, watch TV, play some pool, bum it on our couches, print out your homework, or eat some free snacks. We have everything you need to kill time and just hangout. Come with your friends because everyone is welcome!
 

Opportunities 

Masa Deserts Sports Challenge program We offer  a 5 month program that includes challenging sports activities of rappelling, diving, swimming, biking, hiking, navigation, running and jeeping. Of course our participants also study Hebrew, travel throughout Israel , learn about physiology, ecology, cooking and volunteer - all with amazing Israeli guides.Their next trip is August 5-December 30 and its not to late to sign up. click the link for more information: Desert Sports Challenge

If you'd like to work at Hillel and you received a Work-Study grant for the coming year, let us know. Send you letter of interest and resume for the receptionist position(s) to Melanie Annis. 


Love Animals and Need a Really Inexpensive Place to Live? 
A local lawyer and FSU Alum with a couple of dogs has an extra room in his home near Lake Jackson. If you're willing to exchanage some dog sitting when he's away on business, for a room of your own, send email to Melanie and she'll put you in touch. 

New Class: Israeli Film (FOL3930)

Israeli film will be taught in English by Israeli film Director and FSU film school graduate Ken Shalem. Course offers a unique window on the history and society of the state of Israel.
