PRESIDENT'S LETTER
The storms this past couple of weeks have been indicative of the climate we've all experienced in the economic upheavals and funding challenges over the last months. Your AFP chapter's board has been working hard to ensure that our educational program offerings are just what you need, and that any and all chances for networking are provided to our members. Sometimes a group of friendly faces is just what the doctor ordered! You should have received the excellent news that CFRE has been accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies. As Paulette Maehara said at the AFP Conference, this puts CFRE on the same level as CPA, CFA, and other well-respected designations. Congratulations to all our CFRE holders and lots of encouragement to those of you planning to take the exam! Remember to sign up for the CFRE Review Course being offered June 24-25 at the Arlington Convention Center. Read more in this e-newsletter. There is a lot going on. The selection committee for the NPD awards has met and is receiving nominations. If you haven't sent one in yet, the deadline is near, so please hurry! I know that Dallas does not lack for worthy candidates for all our awards. The planning committee for the upcoming DFW conference is also hard at work behind the scenes and this will be a wonderful event. I hope you're all planning to attend. I've just renewed my AFP membership, paid out of pocket for the first time ever, but it is so worth it! I hope you all value your membership in the same way as I do, not to mention my AFP friends and colleagues who have added so much to my life. A lot of positive energy, indeed. I am so grateful for all our volunteers and committee members who continue to give their all to the many programs that you enjoy. I look forward to seeing you all at the May meeting. Please feel free to contact me in the meantime if we can be of help.
With all best wishes, Luanne Samuel, CFRE President
