True Barolo connoisseurs know well that some of the greatest wines produced by master Bruno Giacosa (and very few others) were from the famed Collina Rionda vineyards. Luca Roagna produced his first vintage from this legendary vineyard in 2003 and did a spectacular job. The 2004 brings it up to another level and we suggest that our clients interested in great Barolo seriously consider this awesome wine before Antonio Galloni's reviews appear next month.
Not only this is a great Barolo from a great vineyard and vintage but it is also extremely well priced considering its pedigree.
Antonio Galloni (Robert Parker's Wine Advocate).."Barolo lovers are well aware that Vigna Rionda is one of the most legendary sites in wine, so a new label is sure to elicit a high level of interest. Roagna’s Vigna Rionda is made from the oldest and most historic part of the hill. Luca Roagna is one of the most promising young winemakers in the Langhe. Low yields, late harvests, long macerations and extended periods of oak aging are the rule at this traditionally-minded estate."
