People & Portraits |
The lead photo in the People and Portraits category was submitted by Erwin Bosman from Brussels.
Erwin was born in 1958 in Belgium. He is currently living in Brussels, in a small village at the countryside. He is married to a lovely woman and is the the proud father of a charming girl. His mother's tongue is Dutch. Erwin's educational background is in sociology, but since 1990 is working as a civil servant in an international organization.
Since the birth his my daughter he has developed a real passion for photography. At the start, his passion was almost exclusively oriented towards the manipulation of digital images since Erwin had a real desire to master completely the ins and outs of Photoshop. However, gradually his attention turned towards pure photography. Erwin uses Photoshop now merely to enhance a picture and to help to express the visual impact that he felt when pushing the button.

|
The lead photo in the Outdoor Photography category was submitted by Steve Stroem from Norway.
34 year old Steve Stroem shoots with a Canon 40D. Steve has been taking photos for about 10 years now and for the last two has only shot in black and white. Steve basically goes around and imagines a black and white world, constantly looking for lines, curves, and motives that stick out as a black and white images. He always shoots in raw and converts his photos in photoshop/raw-converter. Steve converts his photos differently, depending on the photo (shadows, light..etc.) "Stand My Ground" was taken near an old cemetery where there is also a church from the 16th century... "I was wondering how old this tree really was because the surroundings have changed a lot since the 16th century...I got the feeling that this tree is very old, and it was still holding it's ground."
The original image was taken in sunlight, with the completion done in photoshop.
