From the President's Pen

God has blessed the ministry of Operation Andrew with a "banner" year. We began the year in the only office space we have ever used, but during the year we moved to space at 95 White Bridge Road. This space is more central, more comfortable, and more spacious.
One of the reasons we needed different and larger space relates to another blessing from God given in September. That is the month that Joanna Duco joined our team as our Director of Development. It was the generous gift of one of our friends who underwrote one year of her salary that enabled us to extend a call to her. We're deeply grateful to God for the generosity of our friend and for the gifts and heart that Joanna has for our mission.
Our mission is unchanged. God has called us to draw God's people together into a more visible unity so that the work of His kingdom might be enhanced. This year we felt led of God to beginning calling pastors together for extended times of worship and prayer which we call "Prayer Summits". We had our first in the Spring and our second this Fall. These overnight gatherings are being blessed of God as pastors are intentional in breaking down barriers that separate us and seek God's face together for the city.
You are very important to us. Thank you for under girding this ministry with your prayers and financial support. As we celebrate the birth of our Savior, our prayer is that you and those you love will be deeply blessed and strengthened in your faith. |

"Giving Thanks Together" City-Wide Thanksgiving Service
On November 18th, The Operation Andrew Group and the YMCA partnered together once again to host the "Giving Thanks Together" City-Wide Thanksgiving Service. People from across the city gathered at First Church of the Nazarene to join in thanksgiving and praise to God during the holiday season. This year set a record for attendance of over 1,000 congregants, all representing diverse ethnic and denominational backgrounds. It was certainly a "taste of heaven"!
Two touching testimonies were given, one from Pastor Ridley Barron of Ridgeview Community Church, and another from students at Bridges Academy, a tuition supported, Christ-centered, College Preparatory middle school designed to transform inner-city male youth into community leaders. The entire offering for the evening, over $8,000.00, went to benefit this new ministry.
The Nashville Choir and the Nashville Soul Choir led the congregation in exuberant praise and worship, and Pastor Ray Bowman of Spruce Street Baptist Church gave a stirring message of thanksgiving. All praise and honor to the Lord for allowing us to gather in His name as the church of Nashville! |

2nd Annual Golf Challenge A Day to Remember!
On September 18th golfers, volunteers and supporters came out to King's Creek Golf Club in Spring Hill to participate in Operation Andrew's 2nd Annual Golf Challenge. The day was marked by fantastic weather as the teams made their way around the course.
Dinner was provided by Mickey Roo's Barbecue, and participants also enjoyed receiving several wonderful prizes at the end of the day. Many thanks to all of you who participated and helped to raise over $30,000 to support the ministry of Operation Andrew! |
| Dr. Millard Reed Receives "Nashville Hall of Faith" Award at this Year's Honor Banquet
This year's Honor Banquet marked a new and exciting occasion for the church in Nashville- a "Greater Nashville and Middle Tennessee Hall of Faith" has been established by Operation Andrew to rightly honor those pastors in our city who have demonstrated unusual leadership, godly character, and have impacted the area in a positive way for the glory of God and the strengthening of His kingdom. We are exhorted in Scripture to "honor those to whom honor is due" (Romans 13:7).
The first recipient of this award was Dr. Millard Reed, former president of Trevecca Nazarene University and former pastor of First Church of the Nazarene in East Nashville. Dr. Reed has touched many lives through his ministry and leadership over the years, which was evidenced by a moving video segment featuring testimonies by friends and coworkers. Dan Boone, current President of Trevecca, spoke about Dr. Reed's great influence on his life and honored him for his Godly leadership and integrity. Dr. Reed accepted the award with humility, honesty and a wry sense of humor that moved everyone in attendance to both laughter and tears.
This year's banquet was held at the Family of God at Woodmont Hills Church, with over 250 pastors, church staff, and spouses in attendance. The Nashville Hall of Faith Award presentation will become a regular happening at each Honor Banquet, so be sure to keep your eyes open for next year's date, as it will most definitely prove to be an encouraging and refreshing evening of fellowship once again. |
