AOTM

Beth Pollock - Adult
PollockBeth is a 44 year old substitute teacher in the Mahwah district.  She has 2 daughters, Ashley and Lindsey, who both play tennis.  Beth likes to stay active by hiking and boating and also likes to garden, read and cook.  Beth has been training with Velocity for over a year and a half.  Slide boards are her favorite training tool and she has a lot of great things to say about our adult program.  She likes the variety of classes, how the coaches focus on technique and form, the small class sizes, the positive encouragement the coaches provide and how they motivate her to keep coming.  She also says she likes that her clothes fit better now and she has more energy.  Beth works very hard, is fun to have in class and is dedicated which is why she is our November Adult Athlete of the Month.

Caitlyn Floyd - Youth
CaitlynCaitlyn is 10 years old and is a straight A student at Joyce Kilmer in Mahwah.  Her favorite subject is math and her aspirations for the future include going to Tennessee or Stanford for college and continuing on to become a professional basketball player for the NY Liberty.  Caitlyn is keeping very busy.  She plays basketball, LAX, and volleyball.  She also attends the Wyckoff School of Dance where she does tap, jazz and ballet.  To add to all of this, she also is a Jr. Girl Scout and plays flute for the middle school senior band as a 5th grader!  She still finds time to come to her workouts at Velocity where her favorite exercise is running with parachutes.  Caitlyn says she feels faster and stronger since working out here.  Her wonderful work ethic and commitment to our program is why Caitlyn was chosen as our November Youth Athlete of the Month.

Dan Green - D1
Dan GreenDan is 14 years old and attends Indian Hills in Oakland where his favorite class is gym.  Dan gets A's and B's, is active in sports at his school, and plans to go to Penn State after he graduates.  He is a pitcher and plays 3rd base on the Brave's baseball team and is a center on their basketball team.  One of Dan's highlights of his baseball career so far was in a playoff game against Tenafly.  They were down 0-4 and they came back to win after Dan pitched 7 innings.  Dan has been coming to Velocity for about 2 years now.  His favorite activity is doing back squats.  He says that what he's noticed recently is that since he has been coming for so long, his muscle memory is so much better and the movements he has been learning are starting to just come naturally.  Dan is a hard worker and has great focus in class which is why he is November's D1 Athlete of the Month.

Casandra Lambert & Dakota DeBellis - D2
Dakota and CasandraCasandra is 16 and goes to Riverdale High School in Oradell.  She is also an honor roll student with her favorite subject being English.  Casandra is a forward on the basketball team, 1st base in softball and also cheerleads.  She was chosen captain of her basketball team in her junior year.  Her sister seems to have a big influence on what she plans to do in the future.  Because her sister is special needs, Casandra would like to go to Quinnipiac to study Occupational Therapy.  She already is a coach on a special needs softball team so she is headed in the right direction.  Casandra tore her ACL & meniscus 7 months ago.  She credits Velocity's Bridge Program with getting her back on the court quicker.  She just got back to playing her first game at the beginning of November and said it went well and she felt great.  Casandra and Dakota were the first to enroll in the Bridge program 2 months ago and it has grown since then. Casandra's dedication to returning to basketball from her injury is the reason why she is our November D2 Athlete of the Month.

Dakota is a 15 year old honor student at Holy Angels in Demerest.  She plays attack in LAX and is point guard for basketball.  Dakota started as a freshman for her high school team and also plays AAU on the NJ Freedom.  She hopes to attend Syracuse after graduation where she would like to major in communications and eventually broadcast for ESPN.  Unfortunately, Dakota tore her ACL in her last JV game before going to varsity.  She then had her surgery, went through her physical therapy and then was one of the first people to join Velocity's Bridge Program to transition from PT to get back on the court.  Dakota's great work ethic and hard work through her injury are the reasons why she is our November D2 Athlete of the Month.
