In the new September issue of Men's Fitness Magazine, Justin Tuck describes his workouts with Velocity Sports Performance, Mahwah.  This 2 page article descibes how his hard work with Sean Donellan and our other coaches got him off of the injured list and now anchoring the defending Super Bowl champs defensive line.

Article "Justin Time" by Sam Borden

Seven days after the Giants stunned the previously perfect Patriots in the Super Bowl, Sean Donellan, sports performance director at Velocity Sports Performance in Mahwah NJ, received a call at home.
He immediately recognized the voice of Giants defensive end Justin Tuck.  "Coach, can we come tomorrow morning and work out?" Tuck asked.  "It was a week after the Super Bowl," Donellan says, "and he was already ready to start working out for next year."

The following day, Donellan and the 25 year old, now a fourth year player, began Tuck's off-season training program.  After a record 65 tackles and 10 sacks during the 2007 regular season, along with two sacks and a forced fumble in the Super Bowl, Tuck was already being counted on as an integral part of the Giants' hopes to repeat in 2009.........

AOTM

Brian Copper - Adult
coopBrian graduated from Penn State and majored in finance.  He is currently working for a small trading firm in Wyckoff.  A recent accomplishment of Brian's was completing his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University.  His favorite sports are soccer and tennis.  When he's not juggling a soccer ball or using his backhand, he also enjoys hiking and reading a good book.  Brian is a tremendous attribute to our program here at Velocity.  He's been training with us since January of 2008 and he has seen various improvements since then.  He feels "more ripped" and has noticed an increase in his muscle mass.  Brian also says his favorite part of his Velocity workout is the staff and he enjoys the intensity and positive energy that each trainer provides for every work out.  Brian's wonderful personality and assiduous attitude are the qualities that constitute Athlete of the Month.

Madison & Taylor Bialkowski - Youth
bialkowskisTaylor and Madison are both 10 yo 5th graders at Bogart Elementary School in Upper Saddle River, NJ. They are both excellent athletes and excel in two sports each. First is soccer where they both play for the Americans, Madison on defense and Taylor in the midfield. They have been playing for 5 years and both want to keep playing into the future. Their other passion is karate where they have both earned their High Brown Belts and will test for their Black belts in October. Taylor and Madison haven't fully decided about their future yet, but they would both like to play soccer or softball in college and Madison has an interest in becoming a lawyer. In their spare time they enjoy swimming and playing the Wii. Taylor and Madison have been training at Velocity 3-4 times a week all summer. Taylor believes the training is helping her run faster and Madison has seen an improvement in strength and speed.  This is the first time we have had two athletes sharing the honor of Athlete of the Month. But in this case Taylor and Madison work equally as hard, always have a positive outlook and are both equally committed to their goals. These attributes have earned them the Velocity Sports Performance Youth athletes of the month for August.

Patrick Corrigan - D1
corriganPatrick has been working out with Velocity for about two months.  He currently attends Smith School in Ramsey where he maintains A's and B's.  His favorite subject is Social Studies and he also plays baseball and basketball.  In baseball, Patrick either pitches or plays short stop.  His proudest moment in baseball was hitting the winning RBI during the championship game.  Some of Patrick's hobbies include sports, working out, and riding his bike.  His favorite part of his Velocity workout is seeing the results that follow every class.  Since working out here, Patrick has noticed an improvement in both speed and strength.  He hopes that these positive results will carry with him through this upcoming basketball season.  His hard work and commitment to Velocity are what earned him D1 Athlete of the Month for August.

Velocity Ice Hockey Team - D2
VSP hockeyThe August athlete's of the month are the members of the Velocity Sports Performance Elite Hockey Training Program. These dedicated athletes not only train here 4 times per week all summer but on their "off days" they formed their own team and entered in the College Developmental League at the Ice House in Hackensack NJ. At the time of print the team had compiled a 9-1 record and is scheduled to play in the championship game on Wednesday August 20th at 9:00pm. Pictured are about ½ of the team after a recent game from left to right (Darin Donellan (teams biggest fan), Sean Donellan (Sports Performance Director), Mike Dolman (Gunnery School), Andrew Margolan (NY Applecore, EJHL), Robert Kang (Tabor School), Kyle Palmeri (National Team Development Program), Dave Conte (NJ Hitmen, EJHL), Brian Infante (Hodgkiss School), Mike Conte (Don Bosco HS), Pat Bursee (Colby College), Craig Wyszomirski (Don Bosco HS). Not pictured Brendan Reich (Bowdin College), Kevin Reich (Taft School), Mike Garlasco (Gunnery School), Todd Wechter (Pomfrett School), Matt Doyle (Deerfield Adademy), Eric Bertin (Deerfield Academy), Tom Pesce (Delbarton HS), George Huber (Kinnelon HS), Billy Huber (Kinnelon HS). Their commitment to improve is only outdone by the pride we feel in being represented by these fine young men.
