Greetings! It's Fall and that means it's time to learn something new.
What I love about the Internet is that you can learn something new every day,
but only if you are open to it. Sometimes I feel that I am too
stressed or tired to learn something new but as soon as I take a deep breath
and focus, I am happy that I made the effort. Thanks to NMC's Katie Greenlaw for teaching me something new
about "Twilerts," which are yet another way to track and measure your
effectiveness with social media marketing efforts. Congratulations to
Katie for her recent promotion from account coordinator to account
executive. You go, Katie! And speaking of learning new things, you are cordially
invited to attend a free workshop with NMC and Constant Contact on e-mail
marketing and social media on September 30 in Orono, Maine. Even if you have to
travel, it will be worth the drive for this information-packed 5 hour
session. More information is below and you can sign up at www.marshallpr.com or call my office at
207-623-4177. I hope to see you there! Hope you had a great Labor Day weekend and that September
brings all good things into your life and career. All the best, www.marshallpr.com |
Track Tweets with Twilerts!
by Katie Greenlaw, NMC Account Executive
Social media websites like Facebook and Twitter make it easy
for people around the world to come together and share thoughts, opinions and
reviews (both positive and negative) on a number of topics. Smart companies
understand this and will attempt to track conversations and engage with their
customers using these mediums. But who has time to stay in front of their
Twitter account all day looking for mentions (or Tweets) about their company?
Thankfully, there is
a way to help you keep track of the conversations happening on Twitter about
your business or clients with a free Web application known as Twilert. Similar
to Google Alerts, which is a content monitoring service that notifies users via
e-mail when new content referencing selected keywords is posted on websites and
blogs, Twilert notifies users via e-mail when new Tweets are posted on Twitter referencing
selected keywords.
The Twilert service allows you to track what people are
really saying about your company, brand or products without having to regularly
log into Twitter or TweetDeck and scan Tweets. As a Twilert user, you can
customize your Twilerts by keywords, author, recipient, location, links, and
attitude (positive, negative or asking a question). You can select to have your
notifications sent together each day at a specific time, or space them out. And
you can turn them off when heading out of town, if you so wish.
Don't have a Twitter account? No problem! You
can link your Twilerts to an existing Google account. To get started, simply go
to www.twilert.com and log in with your Twitter or Google account, then specify
which keywords you would like to be notified on and when you want your messages
delivered. That's it. A few easy steps and you'll be tweet-tracking in no time! |
