2011 Summer Program Update
Session II Begins Monday, July 18 and runs through Friday, August 5
The Summer Program office will be open to accept last-minute course registrations this weekend, both Saturday and Sunday. The office (located in the #500 building on the Linda Vista campus) will be open during the following hours:
Saturday, July 16, 2011: 11:00am - 1:00pm
Sunday, July 17, 2011: 11:00am-1:00pm

SmugMug Photo Galleries
Last Chance to View, Save and/or Purchase 2010-11 Photos All the current 2010-11 photos will remain up on our SmugMug site through July 31. We'll begin taking these galleries down on August 1 in order to prep the site for the new 2011-12 school year.
In the meantime, you can save digital copies of photos for free: 1. Roll or hover your cursor/mouse over the large featured photo 2. Click on the "save photo" option that comes up to get a full-resolution copy of the photo. The watermark will not print on these higher-res photos. If you do a "right-click" to save, you'll only get a low-res copy that does contain the Francis Parker School watermark. Or you can order prints and merchandise. The prints are competitively priced; the School only receives a percentage of the proceeds from merchandise purchases. To order/purchase, click on the "Buy" drop-down menu at the top right of the large featured photo, and follow the prompts. |

Tdap Shots for Start of School
New State Law in Effect Students entering grades 7 - 12 in fall 2011 are required by State law to have proof of a Tdap booster shot (Pertussis--Whooping Cough--immunization) before starting school in September. (NOTE: For Upper School fall athletes, that record must be submitted before they may begin fall sports practices in August). Families of students going in to grades 7 and 8 may submit the immunization record to Mrs. Debbie Peterson in the Middle School office; grade 9 - 12 should submit the record to Ms. Laura Southworth in the Upper School office. To date, we have only received forms for about 25% of students.

Website Parent Portal - New Families
Parent Portal for New Families
Once we have finished closing out all the 2010-11 year-end procedures (which began July 5), we will begin setting up the new logins and passwords for the updated Family Directory and Parent Portal. We will send an email to each new Parker family with your unique username and password. We anticipate this will take place by the end of July/beginning of August, in time to begin preparation for the 2011-12 school year. We're looking forward to your first year with us!

Summer Test Prep--Juniors & Seniors
An email with August 2011 courses, dates, times and fees for preparation for fall SAT, PSAT* and ACT tests went out to families of rising juniors and seniors yesterday. All the details are also on the Learning Center page of the website...
*A three-hour class is also offered for interested Sophomores who want an overview and introduction to taking the PSAT, which is given to all Sophomores in October. |

Freshman Fall Athletes
Associate Head of Upper School Marc Thiebach announced, "A mandatory orientation meeting for all incoming freshmen who plan on playing a fall sport will take place Wednesday, August 10, 8:30-10:00am in J. Crivello Hall. The purpose of the meeting is to help our student-athletes from the class of 2015 get off to a successful start to the Upper School experience." See you there, Lancer Freshmen!

Don't Get Scammed!
Two of our faculty members have had their personal e-mail accounts hacked (not their francisparker.org accounts). The hackers have sent a scam email to their entire address books with the subject line "Awful Situation!!!" The scam email goes on to detail how the individual was mugged while traveling in Spain, and now has no cash nor access to cash, with an urgent request to send money. Please do not reply, please do not send any money. The faculty members are not in traveling in Spain, and other than having their personal email account hijacked, they are just fine. In addition to the hackers sending this scam email, they have also deleted their victims' email address books, so the victims cannot send an email advising recipients to disregard.
