The Count Basie Theatre's Performing Arts Academy is the arts education program of the Count Basie Theatre, offering classes with seasoned professionals for aspiring actors, musicians and dancers of all ages. The Performing Arts Academy Showcase is the end-of-term performance on the theatre's stage, providing an important opportunity for students to perform before a live audience.

Last Comic Standing Live! Presented by: Count Basie Theatre

It's back, and funnier than ever. Last Comic Standing Live! stars the finalists from season 7 of the popular series, which returns to NBC-TV on June 7. Hosted by Craig Robinson, star of NBC's hit comedy series "The Office" and the feature film "Hot Tub Time Machine," the 2010 edition of the Emmy-nominated show follows an all-new group of unknown comics selected by open casting call, plus aspiring and professional comedians recommended by LA and NYC talent scouts, and some of the best and brightest comics across the country selected by invitation, all competing for $250,000, an exclusive talent deal with NBC, and the title of Last Comic Standing! Watch the series all summer and see all the finalists live at the Basie for an evening of outstanding standup comedy.

The purveyor of a stinging electric guitar style and wild, impassioned vocals, Buddy Guy is both a pioneer and living link to the history of the blues. The go-to session player for Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter and Sonny Boy Williamson in the 60's, he was the chief influence on the next generation of guitar heroes. Jimmy Vaughn scored 2 giant hits with The Fabulous Thunderbirds, "Tuff Enough" and "Wrap It Up," and his first two solo releases each received Grammy nominations.

Currently starring on NBC's Emmy Award-winning series 30 Rock, comedian Tracy Morgan was first introduced to the masses as "Hustleman" on the hit comedy series Martin. In 1996 he joined the Saturday Night Live cast for seven seasons, creating memorable characters like "Astronaut Jones" and "Brian Fellows," and then starred in his own series, The Tracy Morgan Show.

The Black Crowes--"The Most Rock N Roll Rock n Roll Band in the World" stops at the Count Basie Theatre for a very special Benefit Performance for the Count Basie Theatre Foundation. Part of the 'Say Goodbye to the Bad Guys Tour 2010' -- The Black Crowes will be taking an extended hiatus after the conclusion of the tour. All proceeds from this performance go directly to the Count Basie Theatre Foundation Restoration to help fund the ongoing process of a complete renovation of the historic site.
