Peacemaking
The 2012 SW MN Synod Assembly passed a resolution regarding peacemaking which says, in part, that congregational leaders are encouraged to "...discuss with young people the often destructive consequences of war for all citizens of combatant countries..." Duane Kamrath has recently given us a copy of a booklet which he feels would be a resource for this discussion. Wisdom about War and Nonviolence is a collection of 30 brief essays written by Lowell Erdahl (Bishop Emeritus of the St Paul Area Synod), from his book Winsome Wisdom: 366 Thoughts to Ponder and to Live. Kamrath offers them as one perspective in discussions of nonviolence, conscientious objection and possible military service. If you would like to see this booklet, just contact the Resource Service Center.

Equipping Adult Leaders for Youth Ministry & Preparing for the 2012 ELCA Youth Gathering This spring you will have three opportunities to attend a training that will equip adult leaders in your congregation for youth ministry. Many of you attended one or two of the previous trainings. In the first two trainings we discussed the landscape of youth ministry today and then moved on to planning youth events for faith formation. In this final training we will learn to process these events and connect them to daily life. We will also be learning more details and will answer questions about the 2012 Youth Gathering in New Orleans. Click here for meeting times and locations
