"Wicked problem" is a term used to describe a problem that is difficult or impossible to solve because of incomplete, contradictory, and changing requirements that are often difficult to recognize. Moreover, because of complex interdependencies, the effort to solve one aspect of a wicked problem may reveal or create other problems.

Sometimes part of trying to solve a wicked problem involves the same people who are creating it.

Is your organization or academic arena experiencing "wicked problems"? Do things keep resurfacing? Do issues seem to just recycle? Do you think you just resolved something, only to find that it has raised up to the forefront again?

At the Center for Self-Organizing Leadership, we are experts at helping Leaders lift up and address the recurring, wicked problems that tend to cripple organizations. These are the type of problems, which when allowed to continue to fester, erode the effectiveness of organizations, teams, and groups.

At the Center for Self-Organizing Leadership, Inc., we help Leaders to learn how to resolve complex problems using a proprietary process that is rooted in Complexity Science.

Call 716-622-6467. Tell us about your "wicked problem"!

We are considering a Buffalo-area based Learning Event on "Leading organizations through complex problems". If this appeals to you, please let us know so we can add you to the "interested" list! Thank you!
That's a poignant question and observation noted by Dr. Margaret J. Wheatley. In her book "Finding Our Way--Leadership For an Uncertain Time" (c) 2005, she underscores that organizations and institutions can achieve a balance for meeting and exceeding business objectives while having an environment for nourishing the human spirit and developing the potency of people. Dr. Wheatley lifts up as vital a strong and successful type of leadership that focuses on Information--as the medium of the organization, on Identity--as the sense-making capacity of the organization, and Relationship--as the path-making capacity of the organization. (These three domains are the mainstays of Self-Organizing Leadership.)

  • Leadership doesn't just happen--it emerges as the principles of Self-Organizing Leadership are consciously cultivated.
  • C-SOL is a non-profit Educational Center that helps leaders learn to lead more effectively, to create the conditions and use the best tools to successfully lead transformative organizational change.
  • While we are active practitioners in business leadership, we also draw from academia and those that have high value for continuous learning and development, and those that wish to explore new thinking in arenas for emergent leadership. We are connected (via former or present Board Members) at the University of Windsor (Canada), at the University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse WI, at Medaille College, Buffalo NY, with Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL and with Fairleigh-Dickinson University, Morristown, NJ. Call us....to learn how and why.
  • C-SOL is a community of learning and practice, revealing more sustainble ways to lead.
  • Our work is helping leaders and people to become aware of the current and the possible; to provide the space and the important tools for emergent conversations that help people make sense of things and to work together--to accomplish whatever they want to do more effectively and coherently.
  • The C-SOL experience is a shared source of knowledge for leaders, colleagues and associates to use in their work and life.
  • Why do we use the Process Enneagram? Because---The Process Enneagram is the best tool known to simultaneously...*Help people reach rational solutions, ...*Build and strengthen social connections...*Create the emotional energy and commitment...So that everything comes together and the organization (and leaders) can experience extraordinary results!
