The competition is open to any Texas screenwriter, provided you do not make your living writing for film, television, or internet programming.
The contest will emphasize strong storytelling skills.
Stories must be set in Texas and must be suitable
for production in this state.
Screenplays may be any genre but must be feature length.
WIFT/Houston will introduce the Winner and the Winning Screenplay to industry professionals, independent producers, directors, production companies, agents, and others who may be selected or substituted at the discretion of WIFT/Houston.
Producers and directors, many of them from the Greater Houston area, seek stories to turn into movies. There are millions of stories about people who live in Texas, and those stories should have an opportunity to be told--
maybe by YOU.
If you are 18 years of age or older and are not a member of WIFT/Houston, you can join at the same time you submit your screenplay--and for a one-time-only reduced rate.
Membership is not required to enter this contest.
