DESCRIPTION
If you are wondering what Casting Directors are looking for in a Video Audition, or how to go about preparing, setting up, lighting, shooting, editing, and submitting a video audition - then this workshop is for you. Join Women in Film & Television Houston for an information-packed day with these guest presenters:
RYAN GLORIOSO, CSA, Glorioso Casting,
Shreveport, Louisiana - Ryan will be letting us in on what casting directors are looking for in video auditions submissions.
About Ryan Glorioso, CSA: After graduating with a BA in Theatre from Louisiana's Northwestern State University in 1996, Ryan relocated to Los Angeles where he worked as an actor for eight years. Working as an actor led Ryan to his future in casting. "My experiences in Los Angeles gave me a broad understanding of the acting profession. I understand what an actor goes through because I was there myself for years." Ryan Glorioso established his career in casting and became a member of the Casting Society of America in Louisiana's blooming film market. Just three years after establishing his company, Glorioso Casting, Ryan stands as a constant and respected member of Louisiana's film community. Some projects recently cast locally by Glorioso Casting include: THE EXPENDABLES. BUTTER, SUPER, STRAW DOGS, LEAVES OF GRASS, and WONDERFUL WORLD. Two of Ryan's films premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. THE TAQWACORES and SKATELAND. Both films were also official selections at 2010 SXSW Film Festival.
ALYSSIA DUJMOVICH, Acting Coach, will lead us through the preparing for an audition and the techniques required to win the role! She will be demonstrating it all with the cooperation of one of her acting students.
About Alyssia Dujmovich: The word from Page Parkes Talent is that Dujmovich is a great coach who regularly tapes actors for major casting submissions! Alyssia has been acting since childhood when she made her first film appearance in the Natalie Portman, Jean Reno film, THE PROFESSIONAL. Over the past 15 years, she has had experience working in television, film, and theatre. She's appeared on television with leading roles on NBC and the Sci-Fi Channel; she's been seen onstage many times at the Alley Theatre and the Houston Grand Opera; and has recently appeared as "Jilly" in the film LEAVES OF GRASS starring Edward Norton, Susan Sarandon, and Richard Dreyfuss. She also had a supporting role in Houston filmmaker Kerry Beyer's SPIRIT CAMP. Dujmovich is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, with degrees in both Theatre and Public Relations. She's had the privilege of working with some of Houston's favorite and busiest casting directors in casting many commercials, which has helped give her new and broader perspectives of the audition process. She's trained in NY as well as in Houston with some of the best actors and acting coaches available. Not only is she a previous student of WIFT member Eleese Lester's, but she has had extensive training in NY with Bob Luke, who has worked with actors on THE COSBY SHOW, RANSOM, ZATHURA, and most recently ENCHANTED starring Grey's Anatomy's Patrick Dempsey. Currently she teaches acting at Page Parkes Center of Modeling and Acting to actors of all ages.
CLINT MILBY, Director of Marketing for iKAN, will help us understand the various options for lighting and cameras and actually set up a shoot right in the room to simulate what you can do on your own. He will explore using everything from an iPhone, Flip camera, and basic video equipment to the newer HDSLR.
About Clint Milby: When Clint's father gave him a video camera as a graduation present, he immediately started producing short films, something he still does today. After graduation from Baylor University, where he majored in Writing for Cinema, Milby moved to Los Angeles where he worked at Live Entertainment and The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. He also served as an executive Assistant to writer/producers and development executives for six years at Warner Bros. Milby has completed several screenplays including the narrative "7th Angel," an account of the Waco tragedy, and received top honors in the Rob Zombie Horror Movie Competition for his short Drain U. Clint returned to Texas in 2005. In 2009, he became fascinated with HDSLRs and got a 7D of his own to join the revolution. Beyond making several shorts and commercials using his 7D, he became a careful student of how to get the best video possible from these remarkable cameras. IIn 2010, Clint started a news Web site, HDSLRShooter.com and has extended this blog to Pro Video oalition.
PAT SKILES, Owner/Agent, A Plus Actors of Texas, www.aplusactors.com, will be on hand to help us understand the various different methods of submitting a video audition from You Send It to uploading to a Web site and beyond.
About A Plus Actors of Texas: A Plus Actors is a Houston-based agency representing talent for film and television, including spokespersons, day players, voice-over talent, corporate video and film/TV narrators, TV and radio station promo voices, live industrial/trade show, and commercial print talent. A Plus represents a wide variety of looks, skills, abilities, and ethnicities, union and non-untion talent. A Plus Actors is SAG Franchised. |

SAVE THE DATE: She's back!!! WIFT Houston and SWAMP will present LOUISE LEVISON at 10 AM on Sunday, September 12, at Rice Media Center.
About Louise Levison: Louise is President of Business Strategies ( www.moviemoney.com), a consulting firm in Sherman Oaks, CA, specializing in business plans packaging, and venture capital financing. The Houston filmmaking community met Ms. Levison in Houston in 2002 for TALA's Texas Filmmaking Institute, co-chaired by Jolene McMaster and attorney Jamie Baker. Louise was simply incredible, and the hour allotted for her presentation was simply not enough for her newly found devotees. It's been too long since that last appearance in Houston, and we will rectify that next month.
Louise will also participate in SWAMP and TALA's 6th Annual Business of Film Conference on Saturday, September 11, at Rice Media Center, from 9AM to 5PM. Register at http://www.swamp.org/bizoffilm.html.
