2010 ELECTION PROCESS FOR
 BOARD OF DIRECTORS - WIFT HOUSTON

WIFT is always interested in developing new leadership as the organization continues to evolve to meet the needs of our growing industry and community.  In this our 15th year, we are adding more exciting programs and educational opportunities for our membership and colleagues.  The new year also brings with it our election process and annual meeting.  It would be very helpful to know who among our voting members
might be interested in running for a board position.  Positions include both Executive Committee and At Large Board positions

If you are a dues-paying Regular or Corporate Member
and have never held a WIFT Houston board position, and are willing to hold that position for at least a two-year term, please continue reading.  You are eligible
regardless of whether you are a long-standing member or joined only recently.  However, we ask that you run only if you have extra time to devote and/or funds to contribute to the furtherance of the business of the organization and our collaborative efforts within our community.

                            ~~~~~~~~~
Please note that Associate Members,* Student Members, and Honorary Members are not eligible to run for a board position or to vote in the election.
                           ~~~~~~~~~~

If you are interested in being a Candidate for the Board, please email board president Jolene McMaster at jolene_mcmaster@sbcglobal.net by March 1, 2010.  Include your bio and resume, along with a
statement of why you would like to join the Board, how you believe your skills, background, talents, and/or funding-raising abilities will aid in the advancement of the goals of organization.  Also include what specific board position you are seeking.  If you have questions about the differing positions, include those questions as well.

This information will be submitted to WIFT's Nominating Committee.  A slate of recommended
candidates will then be presented on the 2010 Ballot and members who are eligible to vote will then be asked to help us complete this year's election process by approving the slate.  If there are more candidates than open positions, the candidates receiving the most votes for a particular position will be elected to the board for a two-year term.  When you receive your Ballot in March, please vote promptly. We have lots to accomplish.

ABOUT THE BOARD:
WIFT Houston is a volunteer board-run organization made up of a dedicated WIFT womangroup of women and men. It meets regularly in Houston (near the Galleria), currently
from 4 PM to 6 PM once a month in the months of February, April, June, August, October, and December, to conduct the business of the organization and produce the activities, events, and educa-
tional programs offered.

If elected, you should commit to attending EVERY board meeting. You should also anticipate additional committee leadership commitments, with meetings and the exchange of ideas, implementing such tasks as necessary to further the mission of our organization.  As evidenced by board action in 2009, men members are eligible to run for all positions except that of President.

Board members up for re-election this term and their present positions are Jolene McMaster (President),
Marc Isaacs (Vice President), Karron Wardwell (Treasurer), Yankie Grant (At Large), and Page Parkes-Eveleth (At Large).  Marc, Karron, Yankie, and Page will be running for At Large positions.

If you are an Associate Member and now have at least two years experience working in the production industry, you may very well be eligible to upgrade to Regular Member status, and it's up to you to request the status change.
