Building your Jewelry Wardrobe

Greetings!
Our clients are always asking for information on jewelry, fashion tips and fine jewelry care.

I review our industry's publications frequently and one trend indicates that yellow gold is making a comeback.  The east and west coast markets have seen increases in sales of yellow-gold jewelry. Even in the mid-west, retailers report that clothing stores are selling gold-toned jackets, handbags, and accessories, likely preceding a surge in yellow-gold jewelry requests.   While white metals such as platinum, white-gold, and silver continues to be popular in the Midwest, we expect to see both yellow and white metals in demand for jewelry designs.

At Jewelry Specialties, we stock many fine pieces of jewelry in both metal colors.  A basic jewelry wardrobe should include both, and two tone jewelry, incorporating the combination of both white and yellow-gold makes matching your clothing wadrobe a breeze.

Jewelry Basics
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
pearl strandsJewelry basics are classic pieces that can be worn for many different occasions--pieces that can be mixed and matched, clustered and stacked, or simply worn alone.  The timeless beauty of lustrous gold, yellow or white, adds the finishing touch to any outfit.
And never under-estimate the power of pearls to add a flourish; around the neck, on the earlobe, or on wrists and hands.
NECKLACES:
 Build variety and flexibility by purchasing different links and lengths.  Wear these with or without pendants. Diamond pendants are a very reliable wardrobe basic, and loved by all. Also consider an Omega chain as a basic piece to add slides to.
Earrings:
 Diamond studs and hoops in any size are timeless.  Both can be dressed up with special jewelry accessories. Alternately, colored stone studs make for variety but still provide a classic look.
Bracelets:
 Link bracelets are very attractive and comfortable to wear. Bangle bracelets are a special look for the woman who likes simplicity in her jewelry. For an alternative, an omega link bracelet is like a bangle when it is worn.
Jewelry Trends
martini earringsWe have seen increased popularity of this three prong "Martini" setting for diamonds, in both earrings and pendants. This is a great way to re-style stones you may currently own.
Colored gemstones are predicted to be in high demand this Fall Season--picture the bright colors of Sapphire, Ruby and Emerald complimenting your ensemble.
Many of our clients are using stones from their own collections and creating or designing new pieces to get those stones out of the jewelry box and into the light!
Fine jewelry can be cared for with jewelry cleaner available at Jewelry Specialties.  Diamonds and other gems can also be cleaned with the cleaner, using a soft toothbrush with a gentle touch.  Pearls and opals are more fragile, and require special cleaning formula and a very delicate approach.
