I found this post at an internet forum:

His Fitness Bible also seemed like a plagiarized Get Buffed! (Ian King). Unfortuntately, I spent 100 bucks on it. Anyone want it for 50?

Athlete Preparation
Injuries are inevitable!
Injuries in sport are inevitable. Or are they? Undeniably mainstream perception supported by the media would agree with the statement that injuries in sport are inevitable. We have a different opinion.
We have loaded two You Tube clips in commentary on this attitude and belief that injuries are inevitable, and that it was the activity that did it.

Book of Muscle
Q & A
The worlds most authorative guide to building your body
Endurance ready for the military
First off, I want to say that I just finished reading The Book of Muscle and it was a phenomenal book, if only for the explanation of the scientific background behind bodybuilding. I learned more about nutrition and the physiology of building muscle than I had from almost any other source.
Which brings me to my question: I will be commissioning as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps soon, and I want to make sure to be in peak physical condition. I currently follow a training regime inspired by Crossfit, and do a lot of running to keep my run times down. I need to have high endurance and speed, and am willing to sacrifice high max lifts on most exercises in order to achieve that.
What I want to know is, if I follow a workout like the one outlined in TBoM, will I still be able to be competitive with endurance events and Crossfit style exercises. Are there any modifications that I would need to make to the workout? Would doing two-a-days with running or calisthenics be appropriate?
Thank you in advance for your answers, --David
David - great to hear you received value from the BOM and congrats re your commissioning. There are many theories of training for endurance based events, and we could engage in days of discussion on this. I will seek to condense my generaliaesed model it into a few lines for you. All the so-called 'specific' endurance training has limited transfer to the actual activities you are required to do. The best way to prepare is to rehearse exactly the type of training you will be required to do - and supplement that will a strength based program, not an endurance strength program. The only caveat to that is to retain my higher volume rep warm ups, and add back off sets to gain exposure to power endurance so to speak. I trust that makes sense.
May also be a great topic for our FaceBook page. Heres the link! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ian-King/352442794035
Final suggestion, keep really good records of your training and then be objective in your assessment. So you can learn from your own experiences. I have done this, and also in relation to the type of training you are facing. --Ian King

Your Say
Really enjoying the CIP 101
Hello Ian, I am really enjoying the 101 so far, and am very glad I made this choice.
In the process of lining up some calls with Mike during this week to start better understand how to apply some of the knowledge from the 101 and the strength specialization dvd in regards to my cycling clients.
I have also started using the stretching ideas from the same specialization series with half a dozen people, and even in a week they are feeling much better!
Looking forward to continued learning, and I will visit the homepage and sign up for FB and Twitter.

Your KSI Coach is great!
Hi Ian,
I just wanted to send you a quick email. I'm currently working with Mike Pimentel and he has been a fantastic coach!! I have learned tons working from him and he's a great guy and an absolute pleasure to work with! He has gone above and beyond! I'm very grateful for his service! Just thought you'd like to know! Take Care!
All the best, --Michael
Thank you for the powerful information in the Get Buffed 1 book
Hi Ian & Team KSI!
First of all I would like to use this opportunaty to thank you for the powerful information in the Get Buffed 1 book. I have now started stage 2 and it has been an amazing experience so far. For the 1st time in 10 years I'm stretching 20 - 30 mintues before every workout and I already have a lot more "range".
The dvd's (workout Get Buffed, individual stretching, control drills, abdominals) are very helpful and I'm planning to order some more dvd's (squat, deadlift,...) in the (near) future. And I'm also looking forward to buy Get Buffed 2 + 3. The biggest challenge for me is to perfectly understand Ian King as English is not my native language (I'm dutch). This means I have to watch the dvd's over and over again to fully understand the exercise. But this has the advantage that I've watched the perfect technique over and over again ;-)
Now, as I am a new customer I really don't have much feedback to give. I find the forum very helpful so I rate this as my favourite. I also think that your services are very fast. The Get Buffed Book + dvd's arrived in Belgium in less than 2 weeks. When I had challenges registering to the forum, you helped me very quickly. And I also like the personal touch.
I see the KSI products more or less as collectibles as they contain the most powerful, no-nonsense information I've ever seen. They are not the cheapest but worth every dollar (or euro in my case).
Thanks for showing me a new, intelligent way of training and for being a guide in my journey to get buffed! Best wishes,
--David |
Ask the Master
What do you see as critical for success?
Hello Ian, it's great that you have set up a facebook page. I was wondering whether it would be possible to get a bit of advice? My name is Rob, I'm 18 and from the UK. At present I'm in school and I hope to study Business at uni. After this I would love to become a strength coach but I was wondering if you had any advise with regards to what you see as critical for success?
Any help would be very much appreciated! Many thanks for your time,
Rob - success is how you determine it. too many fall into the trap of adopting others perceptions of success and aiming for it, leading to my definition of failure.
What is your definition of success for yourself? what will you need to achieve to meet that current perception?
Success as defined by many in the personal development industry back as far as earl nightingale (and maybe even earlier?) is the progressive realization of a worthwhile goal
My final tip - you are young and at the start of your journey. pick your guides with wisdom, wiisdom ideally beyond your years. and until you gain that wisdom, reflect on each step
All the best
--Ian King
PS. One thing I see critical for failure - running around getting many opinions...
Abbreviated from discussion on our Facebook pages. |
