Dear Alumni & Colleagues,
The Spring semester at California State University, Fresno is underway and in addition to teaching classes, many of our faculty are busy writing research proposals for the coming year.
Our faculty and staff are also preparing for many upcoming events for the grape and wine industry, and would like to highlight a few of them that are just around the corner:
We hope to see many of you at the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium (UWGS) in Sacramento on January 26-27 at our booth #1126 and at our annual reunion at the Hyatt where you can meet Dr. Jim Kennedy, and our Jordan College of Ag Dean, Dr. Charles Boyer.
The first of a three-part
grape grower workshop series will be held on February 10 at Fresno State. Dr. Jim Kennedy will be our featured presenter on grape berry sensory issues.
On February 17, Dr. Kennedy will be in Napa at a special dinner event designed to introduce him to our numerous alumni and friends in that region. If you live in the area and are able to attend, please contact Cynthia Wood by February 11.
Employers interested in meeting many of our viticulture and enology students won't want to miss our special Career Fair on February 23 at Fresno State - presented by the Department of Viticulture and Enology.
In March, two big events are back by popular demand.
On March 4-6, we invite you to attend our 10th Annual Fresno State Winemaster's Weekend at the Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite resort. It will be another beautiful weekend filled with interesting and fun workshops for food and wine enthusiasts, moderated by G. M. Pooch Pucilowski. On Saturday, Kris Curran (Fresno State alum) and Bruno d'Alfonso will team up for our Red Wine Blending Workshop and the entertaining Clark Smith will teach us how music and wine go together (or not!) The gourmet dinner prepared by Chef Fred Clabaugh and his team on Saturday night will feature Fresno State wine and ag products. It's a great deal and a great getaway! Tell your friends. Discounts are available to Fresno State alumni by using the FSUWINE promotional code. If you're not an alumni, there's still an earlybird discount by January 31. For more information, click here.
And finally, the second International Wine Microbiology Symposium is sure to be another success on March 29-30 at the Tenaya Lodge. We have a great line-up of national and international presenters that you won't want to miss. Check out our long list of industry sponsors!
