FBI selects Kids hurt too for prestigious award

FBI AwardThe Director's Community Leadership Award from the FBI for the state of Hawaii will go to Kids Hurt Too in 2010.

Kids hurt too was honored this month at local headquarters and awarded with a certificate by Special Agent in Charge Charlene B. Thornton. Luke Goolsby, Cynthia White, Exec. Dir., and Hiro Ito will travel to Washington D.C. in March to come together with awardees from all states for national recognition and awards given by the National Director of the FBI. Kids hurt too was nominated by Agent Luke Goolsby, who conducts the Jr. Special Agent Program at Kids hurt too.

Kids attend Nutcracker Ballet

70 Kids hurt too children and 10 mentors went to see the Nutcracker Ballet at the Hawaii Theater on Dec. 17 due to the kindness of the Hawaii Ballet Angel Program.

While the kids were at the Ballet, parents had a chance to go shopping or take some time for themselves. 15 parents came to the center to enjoy special treats and a short workshop on how children grieve.

Ballet Hawaii's Angel Program funds scholarships and performance tickets for students from underserved schools and special organizations.

Punahou students and families make this holiday special for needy children from Kids hurt too
Punahou School selected Kids hurt too participant children to receive holiday gifts for the fourth year in a row. Kids hurt too provides  a list with ages and gender and a wish list from the children. Punahou students and their families bring joy to the hearts of children who are missing one or both parents even more during the holidays. Because Kids hurt too has grown so much in the past year, only new participant children in 2009 or those who haven't received a gift through this program before were selected. 67 children received gifts from their wish lists. They have a strong sense of the caring community in which they live. The joy and comfort the children got from the generosity of so many can not be measured. Thank you and a Merry Christmas to all.
