Issue: 9  February 2011
Greetings!

Welcome to all new and "old" subscribers this month.

It's been quite a few months since I last published A Mile in My Shoes, for those of you who have been wondering whether you have somehow been deleted from the mailing list.

However, I have been busy developing some additional services that I am now also offering to subscribers as you will see later in this issue.

For those of you interested in my Run a Mile Each Day experiment, I am happy to report that I completed a year of running at least one mile each day on New Year's Eve. I am still going strong with well over 400 consecutive days completed to date.

If you're interested in keeping up with my running experiment, my experiences and various other of my mutterings, please see my Coaching Approach web site and its associated tabs and links.

Time to trot along. Please join me for some fresh air, some inspiring visions and some new possibilities.
The questions beyond the question

Girl looks thru binocularsI completed a marketing exercise on my business a few months ago where, amongst other things, I explored what is unique, or at least different, about what it is I do for businesses and individuals.

One of the key things I came up with was that I help others establish, and then go for, an inspiring vision, one that connects people's business and personal aspirations.

The key word for me there is inspiring.

I believe it is really important to have a vision that truly inspires you, one that pulls you towards a future that is simply irresistible.

Without an inspiring vision, at best you're left with your goals. Now there's nothing wrong with goals, as such, but they don't pull you towards them like an inspiring vision does.

Goals feel more like pushing to me. They give you a direction in which to push, which is really useful, but which would you rather have, a target to aim for in the distance to push towards, or a vision that is so compelling
that you can't help but be drawn towards it, where the effort seems easy?

What I realised on my run this morning was that when helping others, or yourself, to create a truly inspiring vision, the most important question is not "What do you want?"

Yes, the question needs to be asked, but the most important questions are the ones that come after you spell out what it is that you want.

These questions include:

"What's really important about that?"

"Why that and not something else?"

"What will that give me?"

"So what?"

"What else?

and

"What am I settling for?"

These are the questions that really unlock the inspiring part of your vision, or sometimes make you realise that the vision is not as inspiring as you thought. If this is the case, they'll also help you reset your vision to something bigger and more inspiring.

The questions for you to ask yourself now are:

What is my vision for my life?

What is my vision for my business or my career?

Do these two visions align? If not, what do you need to do to align them?

Are the aligned visions inspiring? If not, ask yourself some of the questions above.

See you sooner than last time.

Twice weekly possibility reminders

Knot on the fingerI created a service almost a year ago for my clients, sending them an inspiring article, story, video, or quote twice each week to help them remember to keep focused on what's possible for them.

I would also like to open up this service to others who might find it a useful reminder in their email inbox every few days.

As with the daily possibility quote, click on the "Join Our Mailing List!" box on the left of the page and above the Quote of the Month.

After entering your email address, click on the "Possibility reminder" list to start receiving these bi-weekly memory joggers.
Until next time.....

Sincerely,

Tony Phillips
