So many people have been interested in another side project of Dandelion - that baby belly Julie is sporting! The little sprout is due August 22nd, so you might see a little bit less of Julie around the cafe in the next month or two, but you can keep up to date on her planned homebirth on her mama blog:Gaia Mama
It's been so amazing to see & hear all the support from so many people in our community since our last newsletter when we described the Community Supported Enterprise (CSE) program we are now relying on to help us survive & thrive in this changing economy.
Contributions have come from all over the country from friends, fans, patrons, local business owners & even vendors! For those of you in a tough financial situation like us, thank the generosity of patrons like Dee & David, who have got you covered:
"We are sending $111 - for ten folks who wish they could but can't. I am among your original and most faithful customers, because of
Dandelion's philosophy, commitment, integrity, and quality of food and
staff. I am confident that the Universe will answer your call in the best of ways."- Dee Rivers-Yowell & David Yowell
The entire Dandelion staff has been so grateful for the increased business, generous donations (thanks Brendan Wood for your coffee can of loose change - it added up to $45!!!), and community response to the situation.
While we've made it 25% to our goal, we are still relying on the good people of our community to chip in by August 11th. Keep reading for the full update, along with great events happening this week to keep the fun flowing.
After the launch of our online Community Supported Enterprise (CSE) program, we've gotten few really good questions. Here's the first one:
Question: What does long-term viability look like? That is, if business picked up to what it was a year ago, would the business be able to carry itself?
This fluid night of spoken word and poetry is back every first tuesday of the month. Join the facebook group by searching for Diverse Word in Orlando!
Full Moon Circle, Wednesday, August 5 @ 7pm [More Info] Featuring a Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius: Aquarius rules the global community and also the global call for
change. You might be wondering what can I-one small person-possibly do
to have a positive effect on the precarious situation of the world? Selfless giving to others is a true Aquarian vision of working
for the collective upliftment of all sentient beings. This is the Full
Moon for involvement in something larger than you. Read more about this moon here.
Art Opening, Thursday, August 6th @ 9pm The official OMA after-party where you can meet & greet the new artists that adorn the walls of Dandelion. This month's featured artists are: Phyllinda Garris, Andrea Courchene, Brittany Metz
Shut Up & Write, Tuesday, August 11th, 4-7pm [More Info] Instead of gathering to talk about writing, why don't we just quietly write together? MAD about Words is hosting this gathering to give you time and space for your poems and stories to happen.
Community Potlucks: All bellies agree - yummy & fun!
We are almost our through our first month of vegetarian potlucks and it's been awesome to meet so many new friends in a casual and homey environment, not to mention to taste all the diverse food everyone has been bringing!
Each evening is open to the public, and hosted by a local organization. There are different "themes" so please be sure to check the potluck page for details.
How to get a FREE MEAL at Dandelion... Come in to eat & at the bottom of every receipt is a coupon for a free meal when you introduce two new customers to Dandelion within the week.
