PARENTS READ
I was watching Day Time television the other day and Former President Clinton was on discussing Childhood Obesity. Here is an alarming fact
"Childhood obesity is one of our nation's leading health threats. Today, nearly 1 in 3 youth, age 2 to 19, are already obese or overweight. The obesity epidemic is clearly taking its toll, as more and more kids are developing conditions and diseases typically associated with adults. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 1 in 3 individuals born in the year 2000 will develop type 2 diabetes. In vulnerable populations that number increases to 1 in 2 individuals. If obesity among kids continues to increase, many believe this current generation of young people will become the first in American history to live shorter lives than their parents."
This summer, Sundae is teaming up with a few members of our community to bring light onto this subject. As the Summer rolls in, we will be offering advice on health eating for you and your kids, Healthy living for your family as well. To me the most important thing my parents ever did was make me turn off the television and go outside and play. I would play for hours especially in the summer.
Remember that Kids always get in free to dance and play at Sundae - It is a great way to spend time with them while not breaking the bank. And even if you can't make it to a Sundae party - create one where you live, invite your neighbors & relatives to your back yard and download a mix. You can have a mini Sundae anywhere - just make sure the TV is off.
