Thanks for the support! I would like to thank everyone for the kind words and support regarding our move to a new Summer location this year. I am really excited about the change and think many more great things will come about due to our move. It really means a lot to me to read your kinds words or get the thumbs up in person.
In addition, big shout outs to all the peeps on the West Coast!!! You guys are crazy with the overwhelming energy in advance of Sundae taking off in LA!!!! I am giving Lars a little time to rejoice in the birth of his first son (CONGRATULATIONS to he and Kathy), then its on to business. We are shooting for a July 5 opening for Hollywood. Keep your fingers crossed and keep looking to the website for more details. (PS - you can now follow events for Philly, Australia and Los Angeles now on the main site.

The party is free and always fun.
This week is a Sundae Tradition - Earth Day Weekend with Lee Mayjahs? & his crew of merry makers. In the past years there have been multiple DJs on this special date, but this year we leave it to Mr. Sunshine alone.
Lee Mayjahs? is becoming a force of nature in the music industry and has been touring around the states for a little over a year. If you have not had a chance to hear "the 6 Million Dollar Man" in person, then you are in for a treat this week.
Make sure to arrive early, Lee is becoming known for his extended sets. Make sure to bring your dancing shoes - cuz he is always sure to draw the most ardent of party people.
Doors open at 6pm - kids free always.
Lets keep the Artist & Music Alive (by King Britt) So, I wanted to write to you guys/gals today about the music industry right now from our point of view.
This is a fantastic time for music and creativity, due to the many technological advances for creating music and for selling music. Through amazing programs like Logic, Garageband, Protools to individual online stores selling music, its a very revolutionary time.
But i wanted to give you some insight on the 'behind the scenes' of the independent label/stores.
As you know I have had FiveSixMedia for sometime now (5yrs). In the beginning with the label, we were excited for cds and vinyl. This was unfortunately in a time where both mediums were really disappearing because of the mp3. So, we did 2 amazing compilations, Black 2 The Future and This is What Radio Should Sound Like (which will both be re-released in summer) and released a number of 12" singles by Jody Watley, Michelle Shaprow, Spacek, Sylk130 etc.
So, we took a few years off while the industry was in a panic, just to resurface 2yrs ago as an 'digital only' label. This means having our own online store: http://www.fivesixmedia.com/store/index.html and having our music in iTunes store and all the others! Our main concentration though has been our own, online store. The struggle has been to get people to actually get comfortable with the store and build an awareness online. We have made it as easy as possible and economical to buy music we put out, like one stop shopping for all things we do. We also have been giving away great music as a perk for supporting and buying our amazing artists.
This brings me to a very important point. When we give away a song here and there, its a definite way for us to say thank you for the support all these years in our quest as artists, djs and entertainers. But, we would love to see the support in purchasing things as well. With a download we would have say 2000 downloads, but when we have amazing artist albums and singles for sale, its very small. The prices are small ($3 for singles and $10 for album) and very easy purchasing method. Imagine if 2000 peeps bought a single...then maybe they could make an album?
Im not hear begging any of you or telling you what to do. Im just here to let you know, that it takes a lot of work for us as artists and entertainers (independent) to sustain a living in this industry that places hardly any monetary value on music anymore. So when you listen to an amazing Sarah White, Rucyl, Ursula Rucker or whoever, think of all the time and effort that went into creating this art for your enjoyment.
Support the independent artists, you will feel better at the end of it all!
