Pan Mass Challenge

  Thanks for Your Support

For 13 years, I have been riding the Pan Mass Challenge (PMC).

PMC Stem Cell Cyclists 2011
PMC Stem Cell Cyclists 2011

I'm on the Stem Cell Cyclists Team and we fund Dr. Corey Cutler who is making stem cells a life-saving tool for blood cancer patients.

I ride from Wellesley to Provincetown, which is 165 miles and have to raise a minimum of $4200.

There are 16 people on our team and we all ride because we have lost someone to cancer.

My dad, Victor Marko, died of lung cancer and my good friend Peg Britt, died of breast cancer. This year my buddy, Glenn Kaplus, passed away.

For the past 4 years we have had a Pedal Partner, Declan Rourke, a 6-year-old who is surviving a very rare brain cancer. He is my step-daughter's nephew and part of my family.

This year he did his own kids PMC, and rode his bike for an hour. His challenges have made him strong and he is now fundraising, riding and making his contribution.

He and his dad were featured speakers at the Friday Night Opening Ceremonies for the PMC, where he reminded a room full of adults why they ride.

We are always on a ride of sorts. I can see the challenges in front of me and the ones I have successfully met.

Why do I ride? I think I do it because I can-I am healthy, I like to make a difference, and every time I pass a sign that says, my daughter, son, wife, husband, or I am alive because of you, I cry.

I realize that I can make a difference-maybe everything I do makes a difference. Whether I believe it does or it doesn't, I am right. I choose to believe in the power of positive intention and constructive action.

The head of Dana Farber always says in his talk to the PMC that when they write the book about how we ended cancer; the PMC will be in Chapter 1.

I have almost completed another year of training, riding, and fundraising. What will be my challenges for next year? How will I meet them? If I need any inspiration, I will just picture Declan riding that bike.

I rode in the PMC and spent the first weekend biking to
P-town.

Then a group of us who bid on a Maine trip at the AlliancExchange silent auction, were off on a trip to Carol Madsen's Maine house as a reward.  We had a blast.  We even found Charlie, the dragonfly, and nursed him back to health.

Medway Dream Factory Luncheon

September 13th Featured Speaker

Amy Parker

KidZafe

"Keep Your Kids Safe Online"

Join us at the Dream Factory Community Luncheon on September 13th at the Solstice Healing Arts in Medway, for a fascinating look at keeping your children safe from digital dangers.

Amy's Story

Kids today are digital natives, they know the language, the customs and the lay of the land. Their parents are digital immigrants. How can an immigrant teach the native how to act and behave in this new land? As an internet business owner Amy Parker realized parents were clueless when she heard an intelligent and very internet savvy father tell his story of his son who got into a very dangerous online situation and how he created a free parental intelligent system to help make the job of parenting a little easier.

The statistics are shocking to say the least..... 33% of kids are cyberbullied and most don't tell a parent, 20% of teens ADMIT to sending a naked picture of themselves, 69% of kids talk to strangers online and of those, 63% have been asked to meet offline. After hearing these facts Amy knew she wanted to get involved by volunteering to give workshops to educate and empower parents and continuing the father's mission, which then began her mission of WeProtectKidz.com.

Through the Dream Factory Community, Amy has collaborated with fellow member, Judy Giovangelo to bring the KidZafe system to BenSpeaks.org as a way to reach out and help parents. Through Amy's travel business, she and Judy created a group cruise, www.BenSpeaksCruise.com which has brought together several amazing woman from across the country who will make you cry, make you laugh and enlighten your lives.

Dream Factory members are urged to bring one guest to this luncheon....someone who has an 8-16 year old child. Every parent will receive a gift, a free lifelong subscription to our parental intelligent system which will notify parents if anything suspicious, dangerous, or illegal is happening in their child's digital world. This free service also helps parents protect their child's online reputation. In addition, one lucky guest/parent--and the Dream Factory member who invited them--will win a 3 day/ 2 night getaway certificate.

"Igniting Your Biggest Dreams"

Join us at the Dream Factory Community Luncheon on September 22nd at the Bella Costa Ristorante in Framingham, where MariaSalomão-Schmidt will show that unlocking your intuition will help you ignite your biggest dream.

Maria's Story

We spend the precious hours of our days trying to sort through the endless sea of our to-do lists. These lists are made from a combination of our goals, expectations, demands and shoulds. It's at this very point that we have the chance to create the lives of which we dream, or complete the life assignments others have chosen for us. Our families have taught us many things that we needed to survive, but most don't teach us what we need to also thrive!

One of the biggest innate gifts we have is the gift of intuition. It is our very own free, personal navigational system. When we listen to outside "voices" and negate our intuition, you start seeing an increase in certain behaviors like:

  • sleeping less and less
  • gaining/losing weight (usually gaining)
  • feeling tired, sad, bored
  • eating more sugar
  • drinking more
  • watching more television

We are a culture of people treating all these symptoms when the cause goes unnoticed. You already have the solution to your life's fulfillment, just now learn how to active it!

Intuition is a gift with which you were born, just as your ability to think and love, are gifts. When people don't activate those precious gifts, one finds lives of unfulfilled potential. Intuition is one of the biggest gifts you have.

At the next Framingham Dream Factory Luncheon, you will be able learn more about how to activate one of the most precious buried "treasure", your intuition! This knowledge will give you the ability to start living your biggest dreams!

About Maria

Maria Salamao SchmidtMaria 's intention is to BE THE FIRE THAT IGNITES PEOPLE's SOULS so it is no wonder that she leaves a room full of light. So powerful is this light that it attracted The Oprah Winfrey Show to pick Maria to be one of Oprah's 10 Ultimate Viewers for the last three shows of her last season! In 2011 Maria co-authored her first book MOM ENTREPRENEUR EXTRAORDINAIRE.  Maria currently uses her energy work and business background to run Brick House Realty, a Massachusetts-based real estate company she founded seven years ago whose mission is to "make the world a better place one home at a time".
