Welcome to the Dream Factory Community News!
The Power of Community!! It was so present at the Conference this past week. From hearing Judy Logback's story about community organizing in the rainforests of Ecuador, the drumming led by Laney Goodman that brought us all together, to the workshop leaders who shared their gifts and had participants experience new worlds, we all felt an expansion individually, and as a community.
This month, the Dream Factory Community is featuring one of our conference presenters, Leslie Ackles , at our Framingham Luncheon.
- The next Framingham Luncheon on May 19th; 12-2, will be at LaCarreta, 270 Cochituate Rd.
- Our Medway/Milford Luncheon will feature the Medway CDO, Judy Giovangelo at Imperial Buffet, 350 E. Main St., Milford. As Executive Director of a non-profit 501(c)3 public charity, Ben Speaks Louder Than Words, www.benspeaks.org , she spearheaded following the loss of her son Ben in 2009 to suicide. Judy will be speaking to the POWER OF COMMUNITY and how the Dream Factory has played an integral role in her ability to move forward through tragedy and turn her loss into something positive for others.
She will be inviting each of us to look at what community means for us. We will look at how we can both serve and be served by this incredible and diverse group of conscious women who are taking responsibility for their individual and collective lives and representing what it means to BE THE CHANGE!
Best, Nancy Cantor Founder of the Dream Factory Community

Leslie's Story:
How did I get here? What was my journey to joy and fulfillment? I was the Director of Training at the University of
Massachusetts and raising 3 children (also with 3 older step children). What happened? Well, I can trace my
Oasis Journey to 2 events in my life.
The first was a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia in 2004. I was devastated after reading about all the possible physical consequences and decided that I wouldn't let those things happen to me. This led me to actively pursue yoga, meditation, exercise, sleep, and a wholesome diet. Besides changing how I lived my life, Fibromyalgia was a gift that also helped me to see that life is short. If there is something that I am called to do in this life, now is the time! Don't wait!
The second event was my Empty Nest in 2006. Now, after all these years of giving to my children and others, I was going to find my true authentic self and my dreams. Now it was my turn, my time.
OK, so now is my time but there was just one issue with pursuing my dreams: money. I had 3 children in college and bills to pay. My husband and I agreed that I would continue to work and we would concentrate on paying off bills so that once college was paid off I could retire from UMass.
So what to do in the meantime? I didn't want to wait until I retired to begin pursuing my dream, so I started taking programs to increase my knowledge in the areas of interest for me: mindfulness, coaching, Deep River facilitation and health ministry. I also started facilitating workshops for UMass in these same areas. So even though I needed to stay at my current position, I was still taking steps toward realizing my dream.
I did know that ultimately I needed to express my true authentic self; she was bursting to come out! I did finally retire on October 1, 2010 and I have since started the development of my dream business: Oasis Consultant. I am now doing things that bring me joy and that express my true self. My business is really about bringing all the skills that I learned on my journey to women who are ready to find peace and joy in their lives. Oasis Consultant explores ways to tap into your oasis of inner power, creativity, and energy to make a difference in how you live your life.
Oasis Consultant will assist you to "Discover the Dreams that Lie Within You".
Look for my monthly Oasis Moments Newsletter, for a peaceful oasis in your hectic lifeand sign up forOasis Interludes, monthly calls or meetingsthat will bring an
oasis of peace into your own life where who you truly are can burst forth.
My recommendations for those of you with bills to pay and dreams to live:
- Breathe: breath is at the core of every practice. It is with us always and can be used to slow our mind, bring us into the relaxation response and help us to see our world and our life more clearly.
- Do Something You Love: Even though you may still have to work to pay the bills, find something that you love to do and actively pursue it. It could be gardening, photography, walking or even something within the job itself. This can give you great joy while you wait to fully express yourself.
- Love Yourself: Don't listen to those voices telling you that you are not good enough or that you must do more. You are amazing just as you are right now. Tell yourself every day just how special you really are.
