FEATURE ARTICLE by Kim Reddington

A Marketing Foundation

I have been an entrepreneur since I was in high school.

Kim Reddington

Entrepreneurship is just in my blood. I had a few real jobs over the years, but they never lasted very long.

I am just one of those people who

need to create my own rules and decide how my days will be spent. I feel I can live my life to its fullest when I am in control of it.

The last time I worked as an employee was in 1995. Since then I have been involved with several businesses and studied many, many business owners over the years. Some very successful and some, well, let's not think about that.

By studying what works and what doesn't work for entrepreneurs, I have learned a great deal about marketing my own businesses. I have had some ups and downs along the way, but each time I was able to figure out why things were working or not working. I have had many people tell me that I am lucky to be so successful and be able to work from home with my children. They are wrong; it hasn't been luck. It has been hard work and constant learning from my own successes and mistakes. The work has been hard, but extremely rewarding.

The fact that I am now a Business Growth & Marketing Expert and Coach shouldn't come as a surprise to me. I have always had it in me to help people live the life that I am living, one that is serving me well. I love putting in a lot of time and effort with my clients and then hear them say that they just made it to the next level of their business, or they just reached their goal for booking a new workshop. This is the most rewarding part of my business.

Everyone markets something.

Whether you are running your own business, building a non-profit, trying to sell yourself to an employer or just trying to convince your spouse that you should go on a certain vacation, you are marketing. What you are marketing (or selling) may vary, but the concepts are the same.

So what is the difference between the ways a successful entrepreneur markets versus a non-successful entrepreneur?

There are some basic concepts in marketing any business that people are aware of at some level. These concepts set the whole foundation for your business. The more you understand this marketing foundation, the more successful your business becomes. The more successful businesses, have a very strong marketing foundation. It's not the amount of marketing strategies you use, but rather the way that you market.

Can you market a business without knowing this foundation?

I started out in business following many of these concepts without realizing that I was. I had a steady stream of clients. One year I changed my business focus and stopped following some of the basic marketing concepts. I thought I would get tons of clients, but that year I ended up with ONE. That was the year I learned about the power of having a strong foundation.

Please join me at the next Dream Factory Framingham Luncheon on Thursday, January 20th, 12-2 for The Biggest Misconception about Marketing and learn how to really find, reach and connect with your audience and your prospects.

                      Women's Week in France
June 5-11, 2011
"Ecrivant  le second acte de ta vie  -  prends les rênes" (Writing the second act of your life - taking the reins)
  • Are ready for an adventure?
  • Have you ever lived in the luxury of a 'tres Bellemaison'?
  • Would you like to live in France for a week with a chef, chauffeur, maid and Bill and Sydney Patten as our guides?

We have the opportunity to be welcomed into the home of Sydney and Bill Patten in the tiny mountain village of Ore in the Pyrenees. In contrast to tourist trodden regions like Provence or Tuscany, you will find a frontier landscape - a tranquil but uniquely varied terrain of hiddden valleys, pagan ruins, gentle walks, and sometimes rugged trails that include pilgrimage routes.

La Belle Maison
The theme for the week is: "Ecrivant  le second acte de ta vie  -  prends les rênes."  (Writing the second act of your life - taking the reins)  Does that speak to YOU?
